Story
Among members of the outlaw motorcycle clubs, Caesar Campbell is a legend. Former sergeant-at-arms and chief enforcer for the Comancheros, Caesar became the founding member and sergeant-at-arms of the Australian chapter of the Bandidos. He epitomised bikie culture - unbeatable in a fight, brutal in the extreme, fearing no one and nothing, and loyal until death. This is Caesar's story, from his recruitment into the Comancheros, to the savage split within the club that led to the foundation of the Bandidos and the bloody massacre at Milperra that resulted from it.

Story
The world’s most successful criminal empire is now being operated on a massive scale by outlaw motorcycle gangs - an empire that is growing in power, reach, and ruthlessness by the day. Their international empire is both sophisticated and brutal. It is also both strategic and opportunistic - where they cannot dominate, they broker alliances. Above the Law investigates how it all started: the turf wars that were fought, the deals that were done, and how the sea of cash that was earned is now being legitimised. It also reveals how law enforcement at an international level is losing the battle against the gangs.

His best chance would be to hitch a ride south at the first opportunity, before the police started looking for him. He was alone, enveloped in the monstrous silence of the desert. What did you love best about Hell's Angel?
Sonny seemed pretty friendly...
If you’ve listened to books by Sonny Barger before, how does this one compare?
No.
What about John Pruden’s performance did you like?
It was fine.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
somewhat
Any additional comments?
It sure seemed like a lot of the HAMC activities were glossed over. I did expect a lot more information, but I guess that might not be allowed. Sonny made them sound like they are pretty friendly.

A must for any true biker
An excellent book, from an amazing man. It gives the history of the Hells Angels like only Sonny himself could tell it. He doesn't just talk about the good times. He's also reflects on the bad times with a no bullshit approach. I have personally read it 3 times and highly recommend it to any true biker out there! I've read it 3 times and will probably read it another time in the near future

Like it or not the Hell's Angels are criminals
I actually had more respect for Sonny Barger and the Hell's Angels before reading this book. The book is merely comprised of first hand recollections of the trials, tribulations and growing pains of a criminal organization which I fully expected before buying this book. What I didn't expect was Mr. Barger playing the wrongly accused innocent victim stance on most of the legal actions taken against the club in a supposed unjust legal environment. However, I continued reading the book with an open mind until the recollection of the infamous Rolling Stones free concert at Altamont Speedway, California. Barger actually attempted to justify the stabbing murder of Meredith Hunter at the hands of Hell's Angels members by placing the blame on the band and the venue instead of the hands of those with the knives. I would have had more respect for the man if he would have fessed up to the wrongdoings instead of pushing the blame off on others. In a nutshell, were it not for an amazing streak of luck and legal technicalities, Sonny Barger should be behind bars for life instead of whining about how he had been so unfairly pursued by authorities. Disappointing.

Compelling and insightful
As someone born into an outlaw way of life, much of this book struck a chord. More so, however was the frank and unapologetic way in which Sonny told his tale. Brilliantly narrated, I would not hesitate to recommend this book to anyone with even a vague interest in MC's and the bike culture.
