Heinrich Heine, 1797 in Düsseldorf geboren, wurde nach einer abgebrochenen kaufmännischen Laufbahn zu einem der bedeutendsten deutschen Dichter und Journalisten des 19. Jahrhunderts. Heine, der zu den meistübersetzten Dichtern deutscher Sprache gehört, starb 1856 im Pariser Exil.
Katharina Thalbach, geboren 1954 in Berlin, begann ihre Schauspielkarriere schon im Alter von vier Jahren. Seither steht sie auf der Bühne, spielt in Film und Fernsehen und führt auch Regie. Katharina Thalbach ist Trägerin des Deutschen Filmpreises und des Adolf Grimme Preises.
