Publisher's Summary

Skye Summers beat the odds. Professionally her life's a success - every day, she cures the sick and heals the wounded. Personally? Her life couldn't be more of a mess. She's tired of putting up with arrogant men who think nothing of ripping out her heart. She's taking a break. No more dating. No more relationships. No more men.

Ash Dean has it all: fame, fortune, and the adoration of screaming fans. But the constant parties and an endless string of one-night stands are taking their toll. He's tired of superficial women who care only about sleeping with a rock star. He's taking a break. No more flings. No more empty hook ups. He's looking for something real.

When sparks ignite between him and a sassy doctor during a chance encounter, he's intrigued. When she has no idea who he is, he's fascinated. When she runs after a little innocent flirting, he's determined to pursue. He's arrogant enough to go after what he wants, and something tells him she might be worth the chase.

prepare to be shredded and put back together

Ellie Masters delivers a story that had me running the gamut of emotions. I laughed, was brought to tears, and had to control a near overwhelming rage and the need to cause severe bodily injury. Skye's traumatic childhood and resulting issues as an adult are not easy to endure and if you are expecting a fluffy romance I give fair warning this isn't it. However, the dedication of Ash stole my heart and had me painting him on a white horse with a hot as hell rocker attitude. This is a must for a personal library. Amanda Stribling was spectacular!

Sweet Yet Emotionally Charged!

Rocker Ash And ER doctor Skye's Story Is Sweet Yet Emotionally Charged As Skye's Painful Past Is An Unavoidable Obstacle To The Couple's Happiness. Don't Forget To Download The Free Prequel! This is book one of the Angel Fire Rock Romance series, a four book series about the hugely successful rock band Angel Fire. It reads as a stand-alone. There is a free prequel available via a download link within this book; Ashes to New gives the tragic background story of Skye Summers and her foster brother Forest. Forest plays an important role in this story and goes on to play an important role in the Captive Hearts series, a three part series ending in Forest's own story.  Angel Fire is one of the biggest rock bands around. The band nearly broke up a few years back when drugs and addiction became a problem, but after some rehab and a sobriety pledge, they have continued on stronger than ever. Lead singer and guitarist Blaze has been friends since high school with Bash, who plays drums. Spike plays guitar and happens to be covered in piercings. Bent, who has a mop of curly black hair, plays bass. Noodles, tall and lanky, plays on keyboards and stands out with his tribal tats. Although the men have settled down in comparison to their earlier years, they continue to be a rowdy bunch. They fight like brothers and enjoy the pleasures offered by scores of groupies. Ash Dean, a.k.a. Blaze of Angel Fire, wears a dragon tattoo on his neck that hadn't gone over well with his minister father and elementary school teacher mother. The youngest of five, he didn't follow the traditional path the his older brothers and sisters chose. He got his GED and left home to pursue his musical career at age seventeen. At twenty-eight, he has achieved great success, but not without a price. His addiction nearly broke up the band, but he has been clean for years now. He has had more than his share of women, but the novelty has worn off. He is waiting to find that elusive "one" that his father told him about. It was how his father knew he would marry his mother when they met.  Skye Summers, probably twenty-seven, has worked hard to become an ER doctor, graduating early from high school and entering an accelerated six year medical program. It has kept her busy, which is why she does it. Working is her way to self medicate. She also avoids conflict. Her childhood was robbed from her by her foster father, and although she knows she needs therapy, she hasn't had time to slow down for it yet. Somehow she managed to snag Spencer McAdams three years ago. She is engaged to the successfull lawyer, and when things don't seem right in their relationship he always manages to convince her that it is her fault, on account of her history and the triggers that plague her. She has a hard time disagreeing, but Spencer might have just gone too far this time. When Skye runs into a rowdy bunch of men at her favorite coffee shop, her patience with men is at an end and she snaps, no longer capable of being complacent. She chews the bunch out for their poor manners and promptly exits, in a hurry to get to work. When Ash sees Skye, he is drawn to her. She really gets his attention when she doesn't hesitate to give him an earful of her opinion of him. She doesn't appear to recognize him, which is a novelty. She sees him - Ash - not Blaze of Angel Fire. He knows then that she is the one, and he won't let her go.  Ash and Skye's story is sweet yet emotionally charged as Skye's painful past is an unavoidable obstacle to the couple's happiness. Skye reluctantly allows a persistent Ash to enter her life. The pair grow closer, but Ash's identity as a rock star and the nature of Skye's history threaten to put a prompt halt to the blossoming romance. Ash is patient and steadfast in his pursuit of Skye. His dedication is adorable. The world seems to conspire against the couple, as Skye's uncertainty is tested by Spencer, her brother, the band, and the public. The couple earns their happy ending. Some might be initially turned off by Skye's weakness, which is sometimes hard to read about. However, as the story unfolds and context is given, Skye transforms in a survivor, someone willing to fight back, but whose experience in life hasn't given her sound judgement or self confidence. She isn't normal, so she questions herself and is vulnerable to manipulation in a relationship. Ash is wonderfully supportive of her and she is able to begin on the road to recovery under his loving devotion.  Ash and Skye's story is sweet and steamy, but Skye's dark past is a threat to their happiness. Their story is well-written. The plot is somewhat complex. The characters are carefully crafted. The story is written in third person. It is told in Skye's POV with the exception of the epilogue, which is told in Ash's POV. I rate this book 4.5 stars.  As for the Audio: it is well-performed and consistent with the book.

Heart’s Insanity

I just not imagine the strength it would take to move forward after being abused so badly. Skye and Ash have instant chemistry after a chance meeting where she has no ideal who he is. Her flashbacks might cause some triggers. Loved how the book ended. 🎧 audio obsession

I think I found a new epic BBF

Skye has truly been through hell. There is so much to her story and I really wish we could dive even further into it. She has taken some of the worst situations and become such an incredible human deserving of so much and expecting so little. Ash is a hot as sin rocker who will steal your heart and all your naughty thoughts. He sees all the Skye is and fights so hard to show her love. He has potential to be one of the all time great book beaus. I would a million percent read more about this couple and more in this series. The narrator is great but there were moments were is sounded a bit like she was in a tunnel. Other than that super enjoyable. 🎧AudiobookObsession🎧

Diggin' the rockin' romance!

So I was a bit skeptical going into this audiobook. I had listened to Amanda Stribling on another book and, well… it wasn’t good. I didn’t even review the book. However, I was pleasantly surprised with Heart’s Insanity. The narration was strong and I did not have the same problems as the other book. There were mechanical issues and tones that jumped from low to high in the previous book (not the same author but I don’t want to bring up what book this is). It was not pleasing to the ear. Anyway, this is supposed to be about this book so I’ll get on with it! I do enjoy a good rocker romance and Ellie Masters seems to really excel at giving us a rocker with heart and soul. I swooned and fell hard for Ash. It isn’t often we get a believable, NICE guy rocker romance. Skye deserves to have it all… sky’s the limit! They both are a tad broken and have had a hard life. Now, Amanda Stribling was pleasing to listen to. Her voice is sweet and soft. I loved her as Skye. I do wish we had a male narrator but I’m always pulling for dual/duet narration in a book that has both POVs. I really was swept up into Stribling's easy pacing and flow. I felt she did very well with this narration. #AudiobookObsession

Trigger Warning ⚠️

This book definitely has triggers when it comes to sexual abuse. Although it was not something that was fully detailed in flashbacks, it’s enough to make it difficult to listen to for some. Although the triggers made this book difficult to finish, I did finish it. I still have it 5 stars because it was a really good book. The story and narrative were both done well. :) The book also has a HEA.

A GREAT STORY

This is my first book from this author so I had no idea what to expect. This was a good story so kudos to the author and the narrator did a great job telling it. Sometimes it's hard to get into the story because of the narrators voice but I had no problem listening to this one. Though there was a moment during this audiobook where there was background noise. It wasn't too distracting but I did hear it. Ash and Skye's story was one that was interesting, romantic, steamy and leaves me wanting to listen to the next book in this series. There were times that I wanted to shake Skye and tell her to get it together and not just accept things; she could make better choices. Ash was there and I loved Ash!!! He definitely made things better. I can't wait to start the next book in this series.

Heart’s Insanity

This book has so much depth I emotions that will leave you drained, but in the beat way possible. The inner strength that has to be present in two of these characters is amazing and the bonds are so strong that nothing will be able to pull them apart. I loved this book and can only hope the series continues with just as an amazing read as this one.

Could definitely feel the love Ash has for Skye. But, a very very heavy storyline, not just hearts and flowers. Hated the narrator.

I usually avoid “rock star” stories, but adore this author. Completely, touching and heartfelt story, with comic relief in just the right doses. Loved this narration!

Let this audio grab your heart

This is my first Ellie Masters listen. What got me hooked is it’s a Rock love story . The story will have you hooked to your ear buds right till the end. Lots of layers. Heroine is Skye Summers. Hero is Ash Dean. Skye is a doctor in the ER . Not only is her work stressful, but her life is also . She had a tough upbringing with no breaks . On the day she meets Ash she had enough and she reached her boiling point. Ash is the lead singer of a rock band . He’s use to women giving him anything he wants , bending backwards for him . That day Skye just rips into him . She saw Ash and his buddies disrespecting a lady , so Skye thought to set them straight. That tongue lashing caught Ash attention, since Skye is not like any other women he knows . Grab it and see if he makes amends and wins Skye over . Amanda performance was good . Her voice is smooth, clear and joyful. I’m reviewing this as part of Audio book Obsession

Stand alone story

This is the first book I've read by Ellie Masters. It's the first book in the Angel Fire Rock Romance series, but it does stand alone. Warning: This book deals with some very sensitive abuse topics and is pretty explicit. I really liked the characters even though I found many, many of their actions to be unbelievable, or at least not logical. Lucky for me (and the author), stories don't have to have logical characters for me to enjoy them. It's fiction, just go with it. Overall, I did like the book and I would be interested in listening to/reading the next in the series. Amanda Stribling does a great job with her performance, though as far as the recording itself, I did notice an echo at the end of some of the chapters. #AudiobookObsession

Loved Listening to Ash and Skye brought to Life

I loved this Love-At-First-Sight story of Skye Summers and Ash “Blaze” Dean. A chance meeting in a coffee shop gives Ash all the time he needs to feel a connection and know he has to get to know the firecracker who put him and his friends in their place. Skye is sassy and stands her ground against Ash but she also has secrets; a traumatic childhood had left her with a past she is hiding and PTSD. She doesn’t believe in fate but Ash on the other hand does and he is looking for a lasting love. Their lives couldn’t be farther apart but when you meet “the one,” you do whatever is necessary to make it. Ash “Blaze” Dean has secrets of his own, but meeting Skye has been a breath of fresh air and he makes some impulsive decisions to spend more time with her. I really enjoyed their whirlwind, adventurous love affair. Ash’s flirtatious determination to get Skye to consider a relationship with him was sweet and lovable. I couldn’t help but root for him to succeed. The Canadian connection to the story also made me feel right at home. Author Ellie Masters has begun a winning series with interesting characters with intriguing pasts. The ending of this story had me on the edge of my seat stressing out on what would happen next. I also enjoyed the audiobook of Heart’s Insanity. Narrator Amanda Stribling did an excellent job of bringing the characters to life. I loved her voice and would definitely listen to more books read by her.

Interesting

The story was interesting, very fast paced. Dealing with some hectic issues. The narration was ok, there was a lot of background noises sounded like the narrator was hungry. Not sure but I think this was one of the narrators earlier books as I have listened to her in other books an she sounded a lot more practiced. 🎧AOR🎧

Broken characters, loved the story and narration

Oh I just love how Amanda Stribling narrates this story. The characters come to life in such a way. So nice to listen to. The characters are so broken and so beautifully written, the way that their story comes out in dribs and drabs throughout the book. It just hit me and sucked me in. I got very involved with them and what was going on and I was constantly coaching them in my head. I really enjoyed it.

The Performance Was Like A Rock Star 🎶

"Heart's Insanity" written by Ellie Masters was a pretty decent romance book with some light humor, intrigue, mystery and the hope for a happily-ever-after. But, I did feel like Ellie dragged the storyline on & on longer than need be, having me wishing for the climax that leads the story to the end. The narrator Amanda Stribling performance was extravagant; a true storyteller in her field. I still would recommend this audiobook to others because there're some good parts of the book that are enjoyable. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer🎧RoniF
