Publisher's Summary

For over 20 years, I've been lied to. Magic burns within my veins, and I'm unable to resist its call.

Mirella wants to be a normal college student, but she's far from normal. Since she was born, her mother has been hiding the truth. Mirella is a descendant of a powerful bloodline that spans centuries - a bloodline that gives her an uncontrollable sixth sense.

Masked men desire her blood. Strangers long for her to join their cause, and a gorgeous man with magic of his own seeks to forge a forbidden bond between them.

For Mirella, there is no escape. Bodies surface, and killers run rampant as her people are hunted and slaughtered. Mirella is the only one who can save them.

Trapped in a life she doesn't want, Mirella must find the strength to summon the power inside of her or risk the extinction of her kind.

An exciting and heart stopping urban fantasy novel, Heart Seeker is the first book in the brand-new series The Fire Heart Chronicles. With plenty of romance, intrigue, and mystery, listeners will love this supernatural new adult tale featuring a strong heroine who is equal parts dark and magical.

Great Urban Fantasy

Heart Seeker is an excellent start to The Fire Heart Chronicles, an urban fantasy series. From the first few minutes, I knew this was going to be a great book. The storyline is entertaining with plenty of magic, mystery, romance, action, and excitement. The world-building is fantastic and magical, immediately it pulled me in. Mirella is a perfect heroine, she is loyal, independent, capable, and strongwilled. As for the men, all I'm going to say is, wow!

Excellent narration by Joanna Roddy; she wonderfully portrayed the characters' personalities and emotions, bringing them to life. Overall, this was a very enjoyable listen, and I can't wait to find out what's next. I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

A good series starter

This was a fun listen and has a lot of potential for the rest of the series to build on. I enjoyed the elements of mythology and magic, and found the characters exciting. The story is creative and different than other tales. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Great Story!

I’ve not ever listened to fantasy before, and I was pleasantly surprised. The story kept my interest, and had some good twists in it. The narrator did a really nice job with the story and her characters were convincing.

UF with YA tropes

This was a review copy. 3 stars.  I gotta say I had a hard time connecting with the characters. I get that this is the first book and is trying to establish the world, but I wanted more depth of character. I did like the unique creature type, the Gypsy like magical people are interesting. But our main character Mirella was annoying and too busy drooling over boys around her to focus on what's happening to her. That trope in fantasy is overdone. Also overdone? The trope of the parent who binds and hides her child's magic and lies to her for her entire life so far, and continues to lie and keep secrets even after the magic secret is out. I did really find the ending intriguing, with the ritual and unveiling of the Heart Maiden (not even really a spoiler, because duh) and I'm curious to see how Mirella's magic grows as she matures into a strong woman (which, if she doesn't become a strong woman rather than a flighty annoying girl we're done). I did really enjoy the audio narration. The narrator did a great job with voices and was pleasant to listen to.

new story

This was a new take on the Supernatural world. I may have enjoyed it more if I read it. I rated it a three because it takes a lot of time to write a book and it was well written.

I Need More...

Heart Seeker was a quick and easy listen. Characters were interesting and I loved the attention to detail. Mirella was everything a 20 year old should be, and then some. I’m waiting anxiously to see where she goes next, after finding out some life changing news.

If you enjoy urban fantasy stories, this is a must listen!

Not a fan of this narrator

I feel like maybe if I read this book I might have enjoyed it more. This series has a bit too much angst and drama for my taste. I’m not a fan of this narrator as she too often “speaks” her part instead of “acting” her part. I feel like she could be a good narrator if this wasn’t the case. The narrator also portrays the main character in an annoying way. I don’t like week main characters. I looked at this series and initially thought the main character would be a badass girl that didn’t put up with people. She’s really not like that and the narrator makes her seem even more week. I wanted to like this book as I like the concept, but it feel flat for me.

Enjoyable Story

I really enjoyed the mixed genre storyline--it was refreshingly different. And for the most part, I did like characters. I also liked the narrator. I felt like she had done a great job bringing the story and the characters to life. The only thing I thought that took away from the story was how the MC behaved at times. Especially, after knowing she's putting herself and/or others in danger and still does stupid or selfish things anyway. And how the MC's mom continued to keep secrets that could be potentially life altering/endangering, even after so much was revealed to the MC. Other than those things, I enjoyed the story.

Great story

I’m a sucker for a normal girl finding out she’s more than normal. So this story is my kind of thing. This was different it had some unique elements that I haven’t read before in a fantasy. There were some unexpected twists and I still have no idea who she is meant to be with. That definitely left me wanting to read book 2.

The narrator was good and played the various characters quite well. This is definitely worth a listen if you like this genre like me!

I was given a free review copy of this book per my request and in exchange for this honest review. My opinions are solely my own!

This book was really good

The story was awesome. The main girl has a hard time trusting people, she had a good reason, she's been lied to for most of her life or at least been kept away from what she really is. And she don't like for people to tell her what to do. I would so tell my friends and family to read this book.

Definitely worth the listen

A very detailed story with lots of background about the characters. Really enjoyed the story development and how the main character learnt about who and what she was. The narrator is clear and not annoying like some can be.

Great book

I really liked this book. I loved the way she talks about her love for dancing from the beginning. Mirella’s younger adulthood is quite difficult but I think that she dealt with it as best she could. It is an incredible book with many twist and turns. Character’s are awesome.

I enjoyed listening to this in the car and throughout the day.

Looking forward to the next book

I received a free audio copy of this book directly from the author.

It took me a little bit to fully appreciate the magical world of tziganes but once I did I started to love the characters like Mirella’s strength and stubbornness and her mother’s secrets. A couple of characters I found a little predictable but I didn’t mind that too much as I still enjoyed it so much and the book still left me wanting for more and looking forward to the next book!

Pretty sure I’ve not read anything similar which these days is a rare thing in itself so I’m one happy reader (listener!)

Great first of series.

I was given this book free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Mirella has been lied to by her Mother all her life all she wants is to be an ordinary girl and enjoy college and her dancing.
However she is far from ordinary and things start to happen first masked men try to kidnap her then a handsome guy with magic powers comes to her aid and things get stranger from there.
I really enjoyed listening to this and Joanna Roddy did a great job narrating , I am looking forward to listening to book 2 .
