Publisher's Summary

In the midst of folding laundry, coordinating carpool schedules, and breaking up fights, many parents get lost. Feeling pressure to do everything "right" and raise up "good" children, it's easy to lose sight of our ultimate purpose as parents in the quest for practical tips and guaranteed formulas.

In this life-giving book, Paul Tripp offers parents much more than a to-do list. Instead, he presents us with a big-picture view of God's plan for us as parents. Outlining 14 foundational principles centered on the gospel, he shows that we need more than the latest parenting strategy or list of techniques. Rather, we need the rescuing grace of God - grace that has the power to shape how we view everything we do as parents.

Freed from the burden of trying to manufacture life-change in our children's hearts, we can embrace a grand perspective of parenting overflowing with vision, purpose, and joy.

Great book

Paul Tripp has nailed the issue of parenting. We want quick fixes and better strategies, but we really need a changed mindset, to understand what the purpose of parenting is, and that we can only achieve that purpose by God's grace. This book won't fix all your issues, but your perspective on those issues will change, as you understand bad behaviour reveals the heart of your children, and their need for Jesus. You'll even thank God for those hard moments.
The voice of the narrator was too quiet, needed to turn volume up quite loud. also, I wish the narrator would have made the sub-headings more obvious. Sometimes it took me a few seconds in to work out it was a heading, rather than a bad sentence.

Good listening

A very engaging book that makes you want to continue listening until finish and listen again. A very good narrator that makes you feel that he is the author himself. Praise God for this book. My son is only 9 months old. I plan to listen to this book repeatedly while he is growing.

Excellent thought provoking book

Excellent book, very thought provoking - created a desire for introspection at every chapter and falling upon the mercies of God as you see a reflection of yourself in the storyline.

The voiceover was very monotonous

The content of the book was decent, but the voice reading was very flat and without expression / punctuation. Making it very difficult to follow.
