Publisher's Summary

Leading health blogger Jimmy Moore and researcher and internist Dr. Eric C. Westman join forces again to explain the powerful therapeutic effects of a ketogenic diet—one that combines a customized carbohydrate restriction, moderation of protein intake, and real food-based fats—which is emerging in the scientific literature as a means for improving a wide range of diseases, from Type 2 diabetes to Alzheimer's and more. Simply eating a low-carb diet alone isn't enough, and Moore and Westman tell you why. Have you looked at a low-carb diet simply as a means to lose weight? What if you learned that combining a low-carb nutritional approach with a high fat intake produces a powerful therapeutic effect on a wide variety of health conditions that most people think requires medication to control? That’s what Keto Clarity is all about. Jimmy Moore, a leading low-carb diet blogger and podcaster, has reunited with his Cholesterol Clarity co-author Dr. Eric C. Westman, a practicing internist and low-carb diet researcher, to bring you the crystal-clear information you need to understand what a ketogenic diet is and why it may be the missing element in your pursuit of optimal health. This book includes exclusive interviews from twenty of the world's foremost authorities from various fields bringing their depth of expertise and experience using this nutritional approach. Moore and Westman explain why ketosis is normal and how this nutritional approach is being used therapeutically by many medical professionals. You will find a step-by-step guide to help you produce more ketones and track your progress, real life success stories, and more. The solid evidence for nutritional ketosis in dealing with many of the chronic health problems of our day is presented, including but not limited to: epilepsy, Type 2 diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, polycystic ovarian syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome.

absolute freedom

This is the BIBLE, on excelling in the existence of the human experience, the depth and dedication of these two authors' are to be applauded, the 'CLARITY' and reasoning on the principles of the ketone diet and the research is truly ground breaking, I personally have spent THOUSANDS of $ on diet books and never found the answers, WHY ,this book will change lives as it has mine ,PROFOUNDLY. A must read and freedom from all the crap we have literally swallowed about diet and health will dissolve.

Love you Jimmy

What made the experience of listening to Keto Clarity the most enjoyable?

Jimmy can make a complicated science easy. Listening to the content and walking too easy

What other book might you compare Keto Clarity to, and why?

The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living

Have you listened to any of Jimmy Moore’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Yes I listen to Jimmy's podcasts

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Made me smirk

Any additional comments?

Purchased the kindle version and was not disappointed. Thought provoking, maybe we all have been brainwashed for 25 years.
I really have enjoyed reading this book well done Jimmy

Good info, slightly annoying narration

Any additional comments?

Eric and Jimmy provide some good info. However, I would have liked them to discuss chemical sweeteners and sugar alcohols more in depth as this can be confusing for those beginning a keto diet (i.e., sweeteners like Maltitol are marketed in "sugar free" products but actually have relatively high glycemic indexes and produce effects on blood sugar similar to other carbohydrates). Jimmy's voice was also quite irritating, especially in conjunction with the additional sound effects (e.g., bells). I would have preferred a different narrator.

I wish everyone would listen to this

Wow Jimmy this was awesome. I'm loving keto combined with intermittent fasting. I don't do it for weight loss as such (do have a wee bit to lose but not much) I am following you bro for health, anti aging and longevity. I have tested protein side of it and yep I think I need to stop the casein before bed (I weight train and thought I needed it but I don't) I will eventually get my macros right and stay in ketosis a lot longer. Thank you so much for this book. I will be reading this many times over (should I say listening). Xxx

A life changing book for me...maybe for you too!

Unlike another reviewer, I found Jimmy's narration to be just fine. There are a lot of "bells" signalling a quote from another person, but I didn't mind those at all. The quotes really add a lot of content to the book.

I have embraced low carb for many years, but this book really added a lot of new information for me about the role of fat and protein in a low carb diet. I feel like I have a MUCH greater understanding of the role of carbs in our health. Jimmy adds a whole lot of anecdotal stories along with summaries of published medical studies about people and conditions that have been helped by ketosis. Super inspiring to me.

I highly recommend this book to anyone, but especially to someone struggling with weight, diabetes, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, neurological disorders, alzheimers, cancer or anything!

I walked away from this book with an understanding that low carb and ketosis are truly keys to living a long, healthy life free of the scourge of modern diseases. Thank you Jimmy!

A good source of info on Low Carb, High Fat living

First, I agree with everyone who commented on the "dings" for "moment of clarity moments" they are completely annoying. Hence I give the performance rating a low score. But please don't let this discourage you from reading this book. The two books I'd read on a similar topic were excellent and I wanted to learn more. It turned out that the author of this book quoted the other authors in several places, so I knew I was on the right track to learn more about the benefits of maintaining my low carb lifestyle. But I learned so much more.

Yes, it is written from the author's point of view. So what? It doesn't pretend to be anything else. But the author also explains why an individual's experience with something can be useful in this case. He also sites where scientific research is and hasn't yet been done. And, he is quick to make sure that his readers learn from what he has experienced and decide for themselves.

I enjoyed this book, "dings" and all, and I'd gladly recommend it to friends and family.

Lose Weight/Get Healthy

If you could sum up Keto Clarity in three words, what would they be?

A must read!

What other book might you compare Keto Clarity to and why?

Cholesterol Clarity - Written by the same author. Great information about the lie we've been fed for the past 60 years.

Which character – as performed by Jimmy Moore – was your favorite?

N/A

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, too much information to take in. You need time to take it all in.

Any additional comments?

My only issue with this book is the audio is too slow. I actually listened to it at 1.5 and it was much more enjoyable. Also, I also love the fact that the author review the chapters key concepts at the end of each chapter.

Love the book, hated the narration

The information in this book is valuable and I enjoyed the content; however, the narration was insufferable to me. The narrator's tone, inflection and cadence was inconsistent and annoying. He struggled with pronunciation and sometimes made statements sound like questions due to his tone. Also, the 'Clarity' moments and the bell sounds were distracting and didn't flow well.

Overall, I highly recommend the book - just not the audiobook. Do yourself a favor and buy the paper copy of this book

Please read lists and recipes

Love the info! Have been following for 30 days and feel great. I've listened 3 times now. My only gripe is he doesn't read the lists of foods and recipes. There is a pdf on the website, but I want to listen when driving. It really wouldn't have been hard to read them off and include pdf for those who want it.

Too much 'dinging'

After reading the reviews, I was very excited to get this book. Unfortunately, for every 'Moment of Clarity' in the book, the audio version will 'ding' so you know you should pay attention/focuses on an important piece that was just told in the book. In the book, every other paragraph is a 'Moment of Clarity'! By the time I got to the second chapter, I couldn't handle the constant dinging and had to buy the physical book instead. I was really disappointed as I wanted to listen to the book while at work, or while driving on my commute home, and don't have much time to sit and read.

The chiming is makes the book difficult to listen

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Please re-record without the horrid chiming!

What did you like best about this story?

The info was great, but couldn't listen.

Would you be willing to try another one of Jimmy Moore’s performances?

No

Do you think Keto Clarity needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

It needs to be re recorded.

Packed full of useful information

This audio book is packed full of useful information. Written by someone who knows what it's like to struggle with a weight problem. If you're wanting to start out on a ketosis diet, this is a must listen. All the information you'll need and all the science to back it up is included.

Hopefully the audio editor didn't get paid as there are a number of glitches and dead air in the audio track that need sorting out. And if the author is reading this, please, lose the bells....

Repetitive

What disappointed you about Keto Clarity?

The narration was annoying. The content was repetitive.

Would you ever listen to anything by Eric C. Westman, MD and Jimmy Moore again?

Not sure

Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Jimmy Moore?

Someone with performance skills

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Yes, it was educational... but the layout was all over the place, and repetitive

Any additional comments?

Keep it simple, it was verging on the ridiculous with the repetitiveness.

The book is well narrated by the author, I have no health problems and no weight issues but feel the tremendous benefits of being in ketosis. I generally eat one meal per day and never feel the need to snack! I feel I have endless energy whilst in ketosis. Thank you Jimmy Moore.

A very thorough audio book!

I've tried these principles low carb high fat and they truly work. I have lost about an inch around my waist in a couple weeks.
I'm quite active though not a sedentary person.
Also you feel satisfied and full.
I highly recommend this book and way of eating as it has a lot if scientific research to back its claims.
If you have been struggling to loose weight in the past or suffer from insulin sensitivity/resistance, diabetes underactive thyroid or any other hormonal problems you must give this way of eating a go and have a listen to this book as it Could potentially change your life.

Great and valuable collation

Jimmy has a somewhat 'funny' presentation. The production is a bit rough around the edges BUT the information is first class. And he has collated all the relevant information and quotes from various experts in a thorough and careful way. It is helpful and well done. I recommend this all rounder to people when they ask how I achieved such great weightloss !

Lesson: low-carb is NOT the same a ketogenic

Since first trying Atkins about 20 years ago, I've spent years eating low-carb on and off. It was clearly beneficial to me and I managed to lose weight whenever I ate that way. However, I could never understand why my weight loss always stalled well above my idea weight or why I still wanted to eat huge meals despite avoiding carbs with ease.

Somehow, it had not registered with me that eating a lot of protein would also drive my insulin levels up and while I thought I had been eating a ketogenic diet, I hadn't. Fortunately, this turns out to be a common problem people face when trying to achieve ketosis and as soon as I took Jimmy's advice to restrict my protein intake to less than 100 g per day (That's my limit. It might not be yours) I knew something had changed.

For one thing I got the awful, metallic taste of ketones in my mouth and my body began to itch. Now, these aren't great symptoms to have but they are good news for someone who's trying to get into ketosis because they're a sure sign that you're doing it right. These signs also pass in a few weeks as the body gets used to using the ketones it produces from burning fat. Added to this, I no longer have any urge to snack or fill up on nuts or cheese because I eat a predominance of fat at my one meal per day and this is absolutely plenty to keep me sated for a day.

I wish I'd got this book when I first heard of it. It's good, useful advice from one who's walked the walked and it's backed by the clinical evidence. I cannot recommend Keto Clarity too highly.

Informative info on ketogenic diet

This Audiobook is an informative resource for people considering a ketogenic diet. It explains the science behind the diet including the relationship and interactions of carbs, proteins and fats on the body. It fully covers how best to approach the diet with advice on how to reach ketosis if struggling. I’m familiar with low carb dieting but learnt that too much protein can hold off reaching ketosis.
There are plenty of scientific quotes and anecdotes from scientists, health professionals and people who have benefited from a ketogenic diet.
It also dispels many myths and engrained beliefs (from years of inaccurate health advice) on eating fat (combined with low carbs, moderate protein) which should give a newcomer the confidence to press on with eating up to 70-80% of your diet from fat and still losing weight.
My only criticism some may find the narrators accent and repetition a little irritating although this didn’t discourage me from gaining both a great deal of knowledge and motivation from an excellent book.
