Story
Most of us have heard of gluten - a protein found in wheat that causes widespread inflammation in the body. Americans spend billions of dollars on gluten-free diets in an effort to protect their health. But what if we’ve been missing the root of the problem? In The Plant Paradox, renowned cardiologist Dr. Steven Gundry reveals that gluten is just one variety of a common, and highly toxic, plant-based protein called lectin.

Story
If you’re eating a healthy diet and you’re still dealing with fatigue, inflammation, anxiety, recurrent injuries, or chronic pain, the problem could be your spinach, almonds, sweet potatoes, and other trusted plant foods. And your key to vibrant health may be quitting these so-called superfoods. After suffering for decades from chronic health problems, nutrition educator Sally K. Norton, MPH, discovered that the culprits were the chemical toxins called oxalates lurking within her “healthy,” organic plant-heavy diet.

Story
Most diet books teach you to set short-term weight loss goals. Whether low-carb or low-fat, the typical plan goes like this: restrict your food choices, exercise until exhaustion, and swallow stacks of supplements. These “solutions” do a better job of lightening your wallet than lightening you. Meanwhile, the healthcare industry fails to prevent chronic disease. Rather than showing people how to remain healthy and prevent illness through proper nutrition, the system offers drugs and surgery to manage symptoms.

Publisher's Summary
Are you eating enough fat? Yes, fat. Despite what generations of health science has beaten into us over the last 50 years or so, humans thrive on high-fat, low-carb diets. Millions of people around the world have discovered that a ketogenic lifestyle is the key to weight loss, disease prevention and intervention, and a more vibrant life, along with a slimmer waistline, elimination of cravings, and endless energy.
Gone are the days when counting calories or points was seen as the path to better health. Craig and Maria Emmerich have teamed up to create an audiobook that digs deep into the science of ketogenic dieting, explaining how it can cure or control dozens of diseases and how it is fueling a new breed of athlete. All this is done in an easy-to-understand way that makes the complicated science much more approachable.
Keto is the definitive guide to the ketogenic lifestyle. You will learn how you can beat cancer, obesity, metabolic syndrome, coronary artery disease, high cholesterol, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, ADHD, anxiety, and depression into submission by making some simple yet impactful changes to your diet.
You'll learn:
- How cholesterol and diabetes medications could very well be making you sicker rather than healthier.
- How generations of bad advice and advice designed to sell sugar, not health, has killed millions of people who blindly trusted the medical establishment and, worse still, the government to tell them the truth.
- How reductions in fat consumption have led to a tripling of diabetes patients, sharp increases in the number of cancer patients, increases in ADHD, and a meteoric rise in heart disease rates. If we are to assume that eliminating fat from our diets is the key to good health, why then are more and more people who’ve followed this advice dying from food-related diseases?
- How inflammation is at the root of many diseases, and how modern diets that are rife with sugar, carbs, and omega-6 oils are sending us to early graves.
- How hormones control mood swings, sex drive, blood sugar levels, muscle tone, fat-burning ability, metabolism, the immune system, and much more - and how adopting a ketogenic lifestyle will change your waistline and your life!
- How you can build muscle and perform your best on a low-carb, high-fat diet. No, we're not making that up!

Good info but hard to follow with this narrator.
I am very interested in this topic but the monotone, slow narration is boring and hard to listen to without dozing off.

Narration is killing me
The information is good, but this book is hard to listen to. The narration is slow and his voice is lacking any character or enthusiasm. It's like he is reading the book for the first time and he can't follow the story.

I am really struggling to get through this audiobook. I had the book from the library and it was super interesting and I wanted the audiobook to listen to on the go but ......... it ....... is ....... so .........hard ........ t listen to the narrator. It is lifeless and uninteresting and I am struggling to continue and I am only up to chapter 4. I was so looking forward to this.
