Publisher's Summary

The rules for living in the real world have changed, because the world we live in has changed. Much of the conventional wisdom the last generation has passed on just doesn't apply like it once did. If you want to win, and win big, and, more importantly, keep what you work so hard for, you need a crystal-clear view of how the real world works - not how you wish it worked, but how it actually works.

In Life Code: The New Rules for Winning in the Real World, six-time New York Times number-one best-selling author Dr. Phil McGraw abandons traditional thinking and tells you the ugly truth about the users, abusers, and overall "bad guys" we all have in our lives. He also reveals the secrets of how they think and how they get to and exploit you and those you love. You'll gain incredible insight into these negative people, which he refers to as BAITERs (Backstabbers, Abusers, Imposters, Takers, Exploiters, Reckless), and you'll gain the tools to protect yourself from their assaults. Dr. Phil gives you the "Evil Eight" identifiers so you can see them coming from a mile away, as well as their "Secret Playbook", which contains the "Nefarious 15" tactics they use to exploit you and take what is yours mentally, physically, socially, and professionally. Life Code then focuses on you and your playbook, which contains the "Sweet 16" tactics for winning in the real world.

Edgy, controversial and sometimes irreverent, Dr. Phil again abandons convention to prepare you to claim what you deserve and claim it now. You take flying lessons to learn to fly, swimming lessons to learn to swim, and singing lessons to learn to sing. So, why not take winning lessons to learn to win?

Waste of time - nothing substantial or new

I’m a Dr Phil fan. But this book is a joke. Dr Phil starts out by saying that nobody has ever written a book like this and it will change the way you function. He then goes on to describe “baiters” (toxic people for various reasons) and how to spot them. Ok - so far so good. BUT - Dr Phil doesn’t give much practical advice on how to deal with/shut down/manage these people. There was one excellent example when he role played a woman confronting someone who was backstabbing/spreading rumours and that was great! A practical example of how to stand your ground and make your point. But most of the book is just waffling on and on and on about “baiters” . We all KNOW baiters - we don’t need advice on identifying/categorising them. What we need is advice on what to say to deal with them. Very disappointed with this book - seems it was written in a day - fluff fluff fluff! I hope Dr Phil looks at “Just Tell Me What to Say” (great book that gives scripts of what to say to a kid who does/says x, y, z). We need a book of what to say when a “baiter” does x, y or z. Like when someone says something deliberately rude or to embarrass you in public? Or someone tries to correct you telling a story? Talks over you....? Thanks Hope you read this Dr Phil!

Waste of time and money

Extremely repetitive, says nothing. Can’t understand why he bothered other than to cash in on his name.

A session with Dr Phil

Not sure what I was expecting but this exceeded it. Such great practical advice. Dr Phil nailed the BAITER. Dr Phil annoys me a bit on his show (I sometimes find him arrogant and condescending) but he is spot on in this audiobook. He teaches. Excellent. I recommend to all

Balance sides on many conflicts.

A better way to understand decisions, that can end up unbalanced on both sides.
