Story
Nathan was different and Sally knew it. From his early childhood, Nathan was bursting with creativity and uncontainable energy, struggling not only with learning issues but also with anxiety and OCD. He saw the world through his own unique lens - one that often caused him to be labeled as "bad", "troubled", or someone in need of "fixing". Bravely choosing to listen to her motherly intuition rather than the loud voices of the world, Sally dared to believe that Nathan's differences could be part of an intentional design.

Do you believe your struggle with anger stems from the wrong behavior you see displayed in your children? The knee-jerk reactions and blowups you're facing are often a result of a bigger set of "triggers". Some of these are external, like a child's disobedience, back talk, or selective hearing, while others are internal, like an overflowing schedule, sleep deprivation, or perhaps your own painful experiences from childhood.

"How can I hope to be an effective parent today when attack on the family are stronger than ever before?" The answer, says Farley, is the gospel. Parents who claim the gospel as their own have an enormous effect on their marriage, their integrity, and their love for their children. Keeping the gospel at the forefront of every aspect of marriage helps parents fear God, sensitizes them to sin, motivates them to enter their children's world, and causes them to preach the beauty of the gospel to their children through their marriage.

This is a small collection of thoughts on mothering young children for when you are motivated, for when you are discouraged, for the times when discipline seems fruitless, and for when you are just plain tired. The opportunities for growth abound here but you have to be willing. You have to open your heart to the tumble. As you deal with your children, deal with yourself always and first. This is what it looks like, and feels like, to walk as a mother with God.

Story
Make Room presents Lent as a special time for creating a welcoming space for God. Other books offer excellent ideas for going through the Lenten season with children, but Make Room uniquely connects its projects to the story of Jesus. Simple and practical activities such as baking bread, having a neighbor over for dinner, uncluttering your room, and watching less TV become acts of justice and kindness, part of a life of following and imitating Christ, and a way to make room for God in our lives and in the world around us.
Publisher's Summary
For mothers of young children, this audiobook is a lovely offering of hope, truth, freedom, wild grace, friendship, and the knowledge that they are not alone. Many moms have dreamed of life with children, and yet the reality seems far away from their dreams. Their hearts are committed, but their spirits are sagging. This audiobook is a coffee-talk from one woman who is still “figuring-it-out-in-the-mess” (Sarah Mae) and much-needed counsel from one who is older and wiser (Sally Clarkson). The audiobook’s message speaks to the hearts of desperate women who need a friend to come alongside and encourage them, give them hope, and remind them of who they are. Desperate is a tremendous source of compassion and information for any mama of young children who:
- Feels she’s going under
- Is isolated and lonely
- Has lost to the beast of housework
- Is suffering from depression and a feeling of desperation
Each mother will know she has a woman who can relate with her in the daily struggles of mama-hood, and will receive wisdom from an older woman who has gone through the struggles and made it to the other side.

If only the 'review' was accurate!!
I am so horrendously annoyed that my valued 'monthly credit' was utterly wasted on this book. I am not anti religion but this book is next level, religious opinion.... I couldn't even listen past chapter one!!! If only the initial description was honest and reliable....
I'm sure many people will love this book
.. unfortunately I feel deceived that the description was made to feel very uplifting, religion neutral and open beliefs.... it's not!!!!
