Publisher's Summary

You don't have to live overwhelmed by stuff - you can get rid of clutter for good! Decluttering expert Dana White identifies the emotional challenges that make it difficult to declutter and provides workable solutions to break through and make progress.

While the world seems to be in love with the idea of tiny houses and minimalism, many of us simply can't purge it all and start from nothing. Yet a home with too much stuff is difficult to maintain, so where do we begin? Add in paralyzing emotional attachments and constant life challenges, and it can feel almost impossible to make real decluttering progress.

In Decluttering at the Speed of Life, decluttering expert and author Dana White identifies the mindsets and emotional challenges that make it difficult to declutter. In her signature humorous approach, she provides workable solutions to break through these struggles and get clutter out - for good!

Not only does Dana provide strategies, but she dives deep into how to implement them, no matter the listener's clutter level or emotional resistance to decluttering. She helps identify procrasticlutter - the stuff that will get done eventually so it doesn't seem urgent - as well as how to make progress when there's no time to declutter.

In Decluttering at the Speed of Life, Dana’s chapters cover:

  • Why you need this book (You know why)
  • Your unique home
  • Decluttering in the midst of real life
  • Change your mind, change your home
  • Breaking through your decluttering delusions
  • Working it out room by room
  • Helping others declutter

As long as we're living and breathing, new clutter will appear. The good news is that by following Dana’s advice, decluttering will get easier, become more natural, and require significantly fewer hours, less emotional bandwidth, and little to no sweat to keep going.

A helpful way to work through the home

You can listen and do at the same time. The author herself read the book aloud and does a fantastic job at engaging her audience and getting us to hold on to the most important take-aways of the book. Though a tad repetitive, it was helpful and great to motivate me to action. Thanks Dana.

Finally, decluttering explained in way I can understand

I have struggled with clutter nearly all my life. I’ve tried a gazillion different methods to organise my space, rearrange and clean up. But this book change how I think about clutter and already, within a week, my home has less than half the junk that it did have. I’ve been able to make decisions on stuff that I’ve held on to for decades. I feel so good for reading this book. I’ve already recommended it to my sister who also has a house full of stuff. Thanks Dana for sharing this information. It appeals to my ADHD brain because the steps are easy to follow and are already becoming part of my daily processes and I love that they apply to any type of mess. I’m looking forward to enjoying the space in my home.

A relatable easy listen.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone feeling procrastination, shame or overwhelm around their clutter or managing their home. I particularly love the visibility rule, the container concept and being able to accept the ridiculous and illogical locations I choose for items to live in my home. Thanks Dana

Very cool. Nailed it :)

Excellent process I have underway! I skip to certain chapters with my headphones on whilst following her suggestions. Wow Dana! Thank you, you are like the clutter buster Queen and you know every sneaky trick us clutterers have! Just starting it again and will continue to until I have worked through every room with you.

Good to listen to

Found this book to be really good to listen to while Decluttering author talks to you like a friend and has helpful advice the book repeats itself a lot but she mentions this at the start and it’s kind of the point needed to get things done. Would recommend

Relatable and easy to follow.

I found this book by searching on Audible for books on decluttering, as I do each time I have a move upon me.
I related to much of what Dana spoke about in terms of my relationship to “things and stuff”. Being a creative, I related on that level too. My biggest takeaway is the concept that “everything is a container”, and together with the “5 steps” process, and addressing “dreams” these will now be my guide.

I signed up to the newsletter to get a printout of the 5 steps.

Thank you Dana K White 😊🙏🏼✨
