Predictably average
I have listen to numerous people rave about this book all over tik tok. Exclaiming about the deprived and twisted story line how ever I found it quite predictable and the human trafficking aspect to be made overly horrific by using children for shock factor rather than actually trying to create a suspenseful read, how ever you become desensitised to the shock by how regularly your given the same type of situations involving kids. The romance aspect has a very ambiguous tone of primal play that wasn’t executed extremely well. The little girl references were far to repetitive. The most thrilling part of the entire story was the sub story of GIGI and solving her murder. Which I ended up calling way Before it was even precluded to.
Narration was fantastic that was definitely part of why I finished reading however I don’t feel compelled to know how the cliff hanger ends.
If you have read stories around human trafficking and the triggers they entail I can honestly say I’ve read ones far more dark and suspenseful than this on. Without the need to use children to beef up the content.
I do apologise for the harsh review how ever I feel TikTok ruined this book as it probably would have been a more entertaining read had I not been lead to believe it was “deeply disturbing”.
Just for future readers reference there is no actual child SA just violence/death against kids with the insinuation of SA.
Dub-con however seems more primal with terms not specifically outlined. She enjoys the thrill of being chased and has a bit of a, im assuming degradation kink, be he throws out a lot of praise as well that is quite confusing. He enjoys the chase and forces his proximity onto her.
All in all give it a go. I personally didn’t feel the heart pounding frozen in place what’s gunna happen next vibes. But hey it might be different for you as I’ve read a few that have had me laying awake at night with no ability to sleep. After the car crash I just couldn’t turn away from.

Great Book and audio!
The book was amazing. Definitely worth all the hype. But the thing that made it better was these amazing voice actors that brought the story to life! Also the best part was no matter what character all female characters got voice by the lead female voice actor and all male characters was voice by the lead male voice actor.

Soo good its ruined normal novels for me.
The narration for this is amazing!
This got me into dark romance and I haven't been able to find another book or book series like it. I had to listen to the whole thing in one night, also I listen to 1.45-1.90 speed sometimes I make it lower but I find it a lot better for all audible books but this one sometimes went to speed 1.00 as the voices are spot on for the characters.
It's dark and riveting.. there was not a boring chapter at all. Other audio books Ive skipped parts that are just so slow and no real point to the story. This is one of those you can't put down a real page turner were everything is important.
It's ruined me for other books especially chapter 16.... Remember look at *Content Warnings*before listening or reading this duology.
I'm finding other audio books to be so slow and I like the pace of this duology. It's ruined me forever and Zade is just amazing.

This is how a dual voiced book should be narrated
This is exactly how a book with a male and female narrator should be.. when a male narrator tries to do the female parts and vice versa it can be very disjointing and this book was narrated beautifully with the male doing the male parts and female doing female *chefs kiss* The book itself was pretty great for a dark romance novel!
The only thing I didn’t like personally was he clearly was against pedophiles but then called Addy his “good little girl”? To me the “little” could be left out? I mean don’t get me wrong I like to be called a “good girl” like any other hot blooded woman but adding the “little” changes the dynamic and makes it a little more creepy, especially when the subject is already something talked about in the book?
