About this listen
In the Wakemont family, it’s tradition to arrange a marriage before the ink is dry on your birth certificate. I was five hours old when my father promised me to the son of a man with “more money than God.”
As we grew older, my future groom and I were encouraged to exchange “love letters” to get better acquainted—except the correspondence he sent read more like hate mail.
Slade Delacorte hated the arrangement. But more than that, he hated me. He was moody, intense, arrogant, and darkly gorgeous. A villain—not a prince. The last man on earth I’d ever marry (if I had the choice).
On my 24th birthday, we exchanged vows in front of six hundred guests who had no idea we weren’t every bit the blissful couple we pretended to be. But as we began our new life together, I soon learned there was only one thing worse than marrying the man I’d hated my entire life: falling in love with him.
©2023 Winter Renshaw (P)2023 Dreamscape MediaWhile I have really enjoyed some of Winter Renfrew's books, it took me a while to buy this because of the title. As someone seeking books with a love theme, a title that puts the opposite of hate front and centre had me backing off.
I'm really glad I eventually took the journey. It definitely had the love. Also the hate is mostly in letters back and forth between their younger selves when told they will have to marry each other as adults. These were so typical of how children of those ages would have written, and the narrators brought them to life, that the hate ended up not being an issue for me.
I have read Dear Stranger in this Paper Cuts series ( also really good), and will now seek out the third.., despite the title (Yours Cruelly), which now isn't scaring me off after this one!
Recommended.. and will be a favorite of mine to revisit.
Well written and narration that elevates it further.
