As he climbs into the sidecar of Hagrid's motorbike and takes to the skies, leaving Privet Drive for the last time, Harry Potter knows that Lord Voldemort and the Death Eaters are not far behind. The protective charm that has kept Harry safe until now is broken, but he cannot keep hiding. The Dark Lord is breathing fear into everything Harry loves and to stop him Harry will have to find and destroy the remaining Horcruxes. Sadness.

The first half of this book might be my least favourite, the sense of frustration and despair is passed almost too well to the reader. The second half is one of my favourites, so satisfying to see love beat hate and everything fall into place. Stephen Fry is masterful as the narrator. I'm sad my journey with Harry has ended, but this isn't the first time and it will certainly not be the last.

The best book ever!

I liked the adventure and excitement. I didn't like the way Steven Fry did Hermione's voice.

Heart wrenching

I’ve always loved the Harry Potter series but I don’t think I’ve ever connected with it as completely as when Stephen Fry read this book. Overall, perfection.

Enjoyable.

Loved it. Recommended reading. Stephen Fry is a delight to listen to and of course the book explains all the gaps omitted from the movie.

The reason

I love Harry Potter because of all the twists and turns. The amazing story-line changes by the second. The narrator was really good and gave me the impresion of Albus Percival Wulfric Brian (P.W.B.) Dumbledore reading the story of HARRY POTTER, who has a big role in the Harry Potter series and a huge impact on Harry. And lisening to it is a lot of fun, especially when you are bored or tired and want to listen to something. A really active and dramatic story is really hard to process but it is so worth it. The change of emotions during this story makes you cry and laugh at the same time, and still completly falls together. Everything detail has it's reason and priority in the Harry Potter series.
But All of these emotions are the part of a beautiful feeling :

Great

Stephen Fry tells the fantastic story of Harry Potter and the deathly hallows, a great end to the 7 book series. I have read the books a couple of times but got them as audiobooks this time, to listen while I was commuting or going for walks. fantastic.

Good narration, but nobody can replace Jim Dale

This is an amazing book. However, when I ordered it, I assumed that Jim Dale was the narrator. His narration is genius, whereas Stephen Fry’s is merely excellent!

Hallowed Be Thy Name Harry Potter!

This book marks the end of a long journey for anyone who has followed Harry, Ron, Hermione and the others through their school years at Hogwarts. During this journey there have been magical moments of high drama, genuine warmth and of course no little humour. As the books have progressed however it’s become more real, more edgy and increasingly tense. The challenge for JK Rowling with the Deathly Hallows was whether she could tie it all up and give this impressive series a satisfying conclusion.

Well, to cut what is a long story short she did just that. For anyone that doesn’t know the stories I’ll include no real spoilers but this is a story of its own with twists, turns and mysteries to be solved. Rowling has Harry and the reader questioning the motives and natures of many of the characters and much is kept hanging until very near the end. Her patience in building the back story over the previous books brings rich rewards in terms of several eyebrow raising moments. Highlights for me include the climactic battle including the way in which it is resolved and blessedly redemption for my favourite character in all of the books. The author spends a long time developing the story and this is a bleaker book than the ones that have gone before but no less satisfying for all that. This is, after all, the wizarding world at war, casualties had to be expected!

Stephen Fry brings it all to our ears with consummate professionalism and genuine empathy meaning that I can happily say goodbye to the Potter stories content that I’ve now completed one of modern literature’s great adventures.

The final part

This final episode of the Harry Potter series sees Harry leave school. The story cleverly links through elements of the previous stories. Listening to this audiobook takes hold of your imagination - much better than seeing the films - more detail - greater suspense and more vivid characters. - Great.

Wonderful

Great conclusion to the series wonderfully performed by Stephen Fry. The narration, characterisation and pacing were excellent and really brought the story alive. I've read all seven of the Potter books but this audio version really added something extra - I noticed things I hadn't seen when reading. A definite plus factor in the performance.

Fantastic

Any additional comments?

I've listened to the entire series and this was a great conclusion.
I'd never read the books before, only seen the films.
Apart from the cop-out epilogue, I thought it was great definitely worth a listen.
Stephen Fry is fantastic.

Faultless Narration

What did you like most about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Book 7?

Stephen Fry's narration is perfect and brings every character to life in his own magical way.

What did you like best about this story?

Being the final book in the series it brings together all the characters and adventures well to a thankful happy conclusion. Whilst this is pure fantasy and imagination the realism of life is apparent in JK's writing as she touches upon sadness in the loss of loved ones.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

I loved the crazy aunt at the wedding, I'm sure most adults listening to the book will relate to it!

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The film is already made - but thank goodness for books and imagination!

Wonderful!

I am left wishing once again that there were more books to come. Characters that stay with you. Stories that make you laugh and cry and carry you away. The feelings these books evoked were no less affecting with Stephen Fry's wonderful audio narrative than they were upon first reading years ago. Magical in every sense if the word!
