From James Patterson, the world's #1 bestselling author, comes Harker — a dark and seductive detective noir that reimagines Dracula as a contemporary crime thriller.
Detective Mina Harker has built a reputation as the sharpest mind in the New Orleans Police Department, closing cases no one else can crack.
But the case that's been haunting her for years is unlike anything else in her files. The victims leave behind no forensic evidence, no witnesses, and not a single drop of blood in their bodies.
When FBI Special Agent Jon Weston enlists Harker to help track a serial killer who's striking in New Orleans, she knows two things: he's closer to the truth than he knows—and she can't let him get too close. Because the truth isn't just about the killer. It's about her too.
Five years ago, Harker survived an encounter that should have killed her. What it left behind still torments her, and it's getting harder to control. And as victims turn up across New Orleans, and a shadowy figure from her past tightens his grip on the city, Mina is running out of time to decide: is she the hunter or the prey?
Created by James Patterson, and starring Christina Ricci (Yellowjackets, Wednesday), Harker is a propulsive thriller where nothing is quite what it seems, and the most cunning detective in New Orleans is racing to solve a case before it consumes her completely.

great acting

As one would expect from something with Patterson's name on it, the writing is tight and focused, the dialogue is natural, and the traditional-publishing-level editing is excellent. It does suffer a tiny bit from an excess of profundity early on, with dialogue used to finish sections bring particularly prone to being snappy and profound, but this does suit the setting for the most part.
Audiobook production is excellent, if maybe a tiny bit overdone, with a couple too many sound effects or musical flourishes. That's only a very minor nitpick, though. The cast is excellent and even though Christina Ricci is the headliner, the supporting actors do just as good a job.
I liked this more than I expected to.
An excellent performance of a great idea
