When Des woke up on April 16, 2018, the morning of the Boston Marathon, it was 39 degrees and raining, with high, gusty winds. The weather didn’t bother her. In fact, she thought it might be a blessing. She was far from peak form—recovering from illness and questioning her running future—and didn’t expect much of herself that day. But as she ticked off mile after mile in the brutal conditions, passing familiar landmarks on the course she knew and loved, something shifted. Opportunity unexpectedly presented itself. Des tapped into her inner strength and found a reason to race.

Educational
A good insight into another marathon method unlike the 80/20 Lydiard type methods or the crazy hard Zatopek (fast and hard) type plans you see. Hanson’s really focus on balance and cumulative fatigue. Not to mention a slightly less long run (16 miles max )... dare I say it!!
This book really helped me understand there is always another method or another way to train if I need it. After American Desiree Linden (Boston 2018 marathon winner) won with these guys, I was always interested in what lay behind the Hanson’s secretive plans and strategies.
This book blows it all wide open and reveals nearly all you need to know about what they do and why the do what they do. An honest open account that is interesting for any runner looking or attempting this distance. There's always an alternative training method and Hanson’s could just be what you are looking for...? No real actual story for me though more accounts and reasons with evidence. That said worth the purchase and a great education!
