Publisher's Summary

New York Times bestseller

One of my dad’s favorite jokes about getting older was: “I went out for coffee when I was twenty-one and when I got back I was fifty-eight!”

I get what he meant now. Time flies. My first book, If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a "B" Movie Actor, was published back in 2001 and it chronicles the adventures of a “mid-grade, kind of hammy actor" (my words), cutting his teeth on exploitation movies far removed from mainstream Hollywood.

This next book, an “Act II” if you will, could be considered my “maturing years” in show business, when I began to say “no” more often and gravitated toward self-generated material. Taking stock in the overall quality of my life, I fled Los Angeles and moved to a remote part of Oregon to renew, regroup and reload.

If that sounds tame, the journey from Evil Dead to Spider-Man to Burn Notice was long, with plenty of adventures/mishaps along the way. I never pictured myself hovering above Baghdad in a Blackhawk helicopter, facing a pack of wild dogs in Bulgaria, or playing an aging Elvis Presley with cancer on his penis - how can you predict this stuff? The sheer lunacy of show business is part of the fun for me and I hope you'll come along for the ride.

Behind the scenes with B movie man Bruce

Really enjoyed this and hearing all the stories and observations of a hard working Hollywood actor. Having Bruce Campbell narrating his exciting life with his inflections makes the listen even better. Great place, interesting life and appreciate the insight into Hollywood machinations, rural life, foreign cities, entering a warzone and his fan interactions. Great book!!!

A joy to listen ton

There were so many insights, so many stories shared. As with his older books, it is a delight to listen to Mr. Campbell share anecdotes, past experiences, and lessons learned throughout his career. It makes for a rich listening experience that I personally found soothing and delightful!

I mean it's Bruce Campbell

… what's not to love about it. Such a humble, cool guy. It's always good to hear from an actor who hasn't let it all go to his head.

first was definitely better

The new book definitely feels like a bolt on to the first book, and the book ended quite abruptly. Always a pleasure to listen to Bruce's voice though, and knowing all the behind the scenes of his TV work. I would have preferred the book take on a later release to have some commentary regarding the cancellation of Ash vs evil dead though, which would have put an end to Bruce's run as Ash (if his own words are anything to go by...).

Not quite as good as the original one..

Still very enjoyable, as his voice is awesome to listen to but the story this time was a little dry - i didn't feel that interested in the digging of his land to put in an internet cable so much as other areas, so maybe i'm not quite the fan i thought I was. Still an OK listen though.

Just to let you know, I work for Audible, but the views expressed in this review are 100% my own.

Hail to the King, baby

So, will you like this? Depends on whether you've read any of Bruce Campbell's other books. If you liked them, then this is for you, if you hated them, well nothing in here is going to change your mind.

It picks up where the previous volume finished, catching everyone up on what's been going on in his life since then. It has the same dry humour and honesty that I've come to expect from Campbell.

There are many stories about his time in the limelight but just as importantly we get an idea of the kind of person he is off-screen.

I highly recommend the audiobook version. There's something about hearing Campbell's dry delivery that really adds to the experience.

Bruce is back!

Ash Williams played by Bruce Campbell is one of my favourite TV heroes. It's been a pleasure to listen to this book and hear backstage stories from this great actor.
