Bei den Trollen ist mächtig was los, denn auch im Tierreich gibt es Bösewichte. Die Gebrüder Specht haben den Schmiedehammer gestohlen. Die Trolle sind verzweifelt und zornig, denn sie brauchen den Schmiedehammer für ihre Schmiedekunst. Außerdem ist die Hexe Rocha an den See zurückgekehrt, sie will den Weltenbaum vergiften. Dazu will sie den kleinen Troll, Rollo Rumpel, missbrauchen. Der kleine Troll kann Gut und Böse noch nicht so recht unterscheiden, und die Hexe hat ein leichtes Spiel. Im letzten Augenblick können Gustav und Penelope noch das Schlimmste verhindern und das große Fest der Tiere findet doch noch statt.
