Not quite what I was expecting

I have been looking forward to this book for a while but I am a bit disappointed it seemed a bit thin on story almost as if it is setting the scene for the possible next books??? It was interesting the previous characters other than mr Smith and Runner didn’t appear seeing this was a new guild boss. It won’t stop me from reading further books. Look forward to the next one.

Love the story

I listened to this last book but think I will read them instead if Ms Rosenblat continues to read them. All of her characters sound the same in her low gravelly voice. It was the same with the others she has read. Otherwise the story was good fun, as usual with this series.

Guild boss

Listening to a book performance by Barbara Rosenblatt is always a delight. Especially for a new Harmony story by Jayne Castle. Otis is a great addition to the collection of dust bunnies. Recommended.

I’m a huge fan of Jayne Castle’s Harmony series

but Barbara Rosenblat is not the right narrator. Feisty 20-somethings sound like 80-year old smokers who are about to hack up a lung. I kept imagining Phyllis Diller in the sex scenes which wasn’t a good thing. I usually only leave positive book reviews but I’m frustrated with the casting.

Narrator spoiled the book

Narrator made this really hard to complete. I’m sure the print version will get a higher rating.

Wrong Narrator

The narrator has a great voice, however does not fit the story as she sounds like a very mature woman that has been smoking for 50 years. It doesn't not fit with a young romance - she sounds fine for the male voice but it sounds like the Guild Boss is romancing his grandmother.

Good story

I loved the story. I love the author, Jayne Castle aka Amanda Quick aka Jayne Ann Krentz.
The narration was not nearly as good as in her other works. The voice was entirely too masculine. No attempt was made to modify to different
characters.

Couldn't Finish

I enjoy the guild hunter series but this book did not meet expectations. The story was weak but the biggest problem was the narrator...her voice grated on my last nerve. I tried to finish but just couldn't. I'm returning this title.

Good read

This is another installment of the Illusion Town series and it's very enjoyable. While the narrator's voice was jarring in the first book it has gotten a lot smoother. Would recommend this series.

Excellent!

Even if I didn't already like Jayne Castle, et. al. I'd have gotten this book because of the narrator, Barbara Rosenblat. I've been waiting years for Ms. Rosenblat to make an appearance with one of my favourite authors again. With Guild Boss she makes an already fantabulous story even better with her skills. Thank you Ms. Castle and Ms. Rosenblat for an excellent journey!

Krentz always weaves a good mystery....

Good to the last drop... As always Krentz hooks you from the first word....I wasn't going to read this novel as I thought the title as sounded kinda boring but glad I did. I listened to this straight thru. A must read if you liked the whole Harmony/Illusion town series.....

Perils of Preorders

I would never have purchased this if I had the opportunity to listen to the preview as the narration is awful for Lucy, the main character. It manages to be both whiny and gravelly at the same time, so a series of words that would sound reasonable in your mind if you were reading to yourself come out as a child's accusation when read by this narrator. I ended up disliking Lucy and the romance wasn't believable because of it. Strangely, the female narrator is better with the male voices. Story wise this is very similar to other recent Harmony books, female lead has an unusual talent, there's a conspiracy and they join with the male lead to defeat it.
