Das Buch entstand in Kooperation mit der Ärztin und Weggefährtin Ita Wegmann und stellt den grundlegenden Text des anthroposophischen Zugangs zur Medizin als einer spirituell fundierten Heilkunst dar. Als solcher ist er nicht nur als theoretische Darlegung der Grundlagen anthroposophischer Heilkunde zu verstehen, sondern zugleich als praktischer Schulungstext zur Einübung in die spezifische Art der Menschenbetrachtung, welche der Anthroposophie zugrunde liegt.
