Janosch è nato a Zabrze, in Polonia, nel 1931. Ha scritto più di cento libri per bambini, libri illustrati e romanzi, inventato storie e personaggi ed è il padre orgoglioso di Tigre, Orso e dei loro amici. Ha ricevuto il premio tedesco per la letteratura per ragazzi per il suo libro "Oh, com'è bella Panama". Oggi, all'età di 91 anni, Janosch vive su un'isola sperduta, tra il sole e il mare.
