Publisher's Summary

Cut class. Kick ass. Save the friggin world.

When college sophomore Dan Marshall's life morphs into a hybrid of Penn State and a homebrew tabletop RPG adventure, he grabs his talking two-handed sword and hits campus, seeking gold, girls, and glory.

But even with two beautiful bad-ass women at his side, how can a low-level barbarian survive when he’s pitted against a fraternity of gnolls, a dungeon full of nightmares, and an apocalyptic death cult bent on destroying the whole world?

This compilation edition chronicles Dan's epic rise to power and includes all four previously-published books in the complete series: Dan the Barbarian, Dan the Adventurer, Dan the Destroyer, and Dan the Warlord. To prevent spoilers, the above description covers only the first book.

Warning: This over-the-top adventure series contains graphic violence, undefined relationships/harem, and a foul-mouthed two-handed sword. Listen at your own risk.

Great story

What a deal! Great story narrated by an amazing narrator. This is a must buy for anyone who enjoys a good harem story.

The Performance was Good

The performance was engaging and energetic. Andrea did a good job of creating distinct characters and building suspense.
Unfortunately, the main character was just dumb. He made the same mistake repeatedly even after he “learned” from it. I couldn’t finish the story due to repeated character stupidity for the sake of moving the story along.

Probably won't finish the series

I love Andrea's Parsneau's narration. I think she is one of the best out there. Great character voicing and impeccable timing. Andrea's reading of this book was the only reason I took a chance on it. Frankly, of all series where Audible compiles three or four books into one offering, I have only once or twice enjoyed the writing. This isn't one of those. The first book isn't bad. It does have a few interesting parts to it where the MC is being influenced by the character's mental stats as well as the character class. It's also a bit of nostalgia seeing a character based on what seems to be a AD&D Unearthed Arcana Barbarian. The harem aspect of the first book isn't terrible, but it gets much worse in the second book. The fact that the world is based on the kind of campaign that the MC's friend and GM wrote does explain away some of the more lurid and ridiculous aspects of the society the MC finds himself in. And I suppose that the people in the world being reskinned version of many of the people he met at the college, but don't have any memory of who they were, is either a results of the djinn's wish to keep them in character or indicates that the MC was brought into a different world. Seems like a bit of a missed opportunity to have other people trying to deal with this weird reality with the MC. I might continue listening to this series when I run out of other books, but that will definitely be back burner.
