Publisher's Summary

When you spend your life at the top, there's only one direction you can go.

Pro alpine skier Aspen Archer's downfall happened in the worst possible way - a career-ending crash on a gold medal run at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Aspen packed up her broken life, picked up her broken body, and now hides in comfortable obscurity at ski resorts around the world, coaching tourists and ignoring her problems.

Cate Tierney knows who Aspen Archer is, but the last place she expected to meet the former Olympian was during a ski trip to Australia. Hurt by a past relationship, and with a teenage daughter to protect, Cate's initial reluctance is quickly overcome by her intense attraction. But with Cate's vacation ending in a few short weeks and Aspen's aversion to staying in one place, can their encounter be anything more than a fling?

When Cate discovers Aspen's secrets, Aspen is forced to face everything she'd been trying to forget. And everything she'd forgotten she wanted. Aspen already knows the route from start to finish doesn't always go as planned. Now she needs to figure out how to get herself back on course for good.

it's fantastic how it spends most of the time going through the relationship and not just entering it

I loved the book! The fact that the main characters spend most of the book struggling together is brilliant and the step parent relationship is adorable. The one problem were the terrible ausi accents but thats forgivable.

Fabulous

I love all of Noyes books. The people (not just characters) who populate them are so interesting, complex and real.
I am so glad we get to know these characters even more in Schuss.

Good read but Abby ...

Good read but Abby, your Aussie accent ... um, needs a lot of work 🤷🏼‍♀️ You sounds more South Afrikaner with some improvement when you make Kiwi status.

Just Brilliant

A well written book that tells the story of a pro skier finding her groove in life again. Being a skier, I felt like I was right there in a lot of the scenes. The narration as always is on point. Do yourself a favour listen to this audiobook. Thanks EJ Noyes another brilliant book.

Brilliant characters

E.J Noyes you’ve done it again! Evolving characters, romance, sex, love, sensational story telling it’s got it all! I can’t wait for your next novel

Abby Craden narrates amazingly as always (the Australian accent is a hard one to conquer but great try)

You won’t be disappointed

Moyes delivers again!! Characters so real and another heart throbbing plot.

Yes - cringeworthy Aussi accent from an otherwise sensual & brilliant Abby Craden (push through ... it's worth it) I love and now only listen to her voice on audible. If someone else can re-read those parts ...
As for Moyes ! Characters so well developed, you see your own lived experiences in them. Utterly brilliant. Just listened to this while inNZ on the slopes of Cardrona!! When the next one EJ?

Engaging story ...... but that accent🤣

Looking for a little escapism I picked a random audiobook knowing nothing of the author or and the subject matter. My normal preference is crime fiction but being far too housebound for the past 6 months of COVID restrictions learning any more ways to kill may not be in the interest of my fellow housemates, hence the randomness of my pick.

The Australian setting had me from the start and it felt genuine indicating the author had local knowledge. Further the writing style felt Australian despite US lead characters (there are discernible differences in national writing styles). Curious, I paused the story and googled Noyes which unsurprisingly revealed she is a fellow Queenslander.

Being no expert on romance fiction I can only say the story line engaged from the start and kept my interest despite the usual predictable twists and turns in the plot.

A major distraction was accent the narrator gave a minor Australian character. The closest I can describe is Africaan, straight off the plane from Jo’burg. So bad it jolted the listener out of the story, fortunately only a minor character.

Intriguing story

I was surprised that it started off at Thredbo. I have to say I love Abby Craden, but on this occasion the Australian accent was woeful, I even detected a touch of Irish. Other than this small, minor negative, The characters were believable and what I imagine happens during the season. The story was very enjoyable and would recommend.

Excellent

I’m really lovely story and well written. Great narration think the writer explained scenery in the area to give a great visual was a pleasure listening to the story.
