Wir hören das Vorspiel auf dem Theater aus Faust, das Mailied, Prometheus, Der Fischer, Der Handschuh oder Die Kraniche des Ibykus. Ergänzt werden die Gedichte, Balladen, Elegien mit Auszügen aus Briefen und Tagebuchnotizen. Dies gibt einen höchst interessanten Blick auf die denkwürdige Zuneigung, in welcher die beiden Dichtergiganten miteinander verbunden waren.
