About this listen

College freshman Claire Danvers has had enough of her nightmarish dorm situation, where the popular girls never let her forget just where she ranks in the school’s social scene: somewhere less than zero.

When Claire heads off-campus, the imposing old house where she finds a room may not be much better. Her new roommates don’t show many signs of life, but they come out fighting when the town’s deepest secrets come crawling out, hungry for fresh blood….

I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook. Great plot that developed well with a few great suprises through it. Can't wait for the next book in the series . Thank you to the author and narrator for sharing their talents!

Great book, bring on the rest!

I saw a hard copy of one the books of this series in a book exchange and I was going to read it till I found out that there were other books preceding it. When I found Audible had all but one I put them in my Wishlist then for several months I ummed and ahhed about starting them as I was afraid I would be disappointed. But I wasn’t. This first book got me hooked….. can’t wait to start the second

Gripping Story

I've read these books multiple times throughout the years, thought I'd try listening to them while doing housework in quarantine. These books are amazing but the narrator has let it down. It's fine when she's telling the story but when she does the voices it's ridiculous. She makes Clair sound like a weak little child and Michael, Shane and Eve sound like people out of the Bill and Ted movies, real typical California surfer types you see poorly portrayed in movies. It doesn't fit at all. Not sure if I'll get thru the rest of the series, it's disappointing.

love this book but the narration is lacking

I read reviews before listening! I loved the thriller books by this author so wanted to give them a go.
The reviews said the narrators voice was annoying. Unfortunately it does take away from the book. But I got past it and the book is good
I will listen/ read the next

Good book! Annoying narrator’

the narrators voice is hard to get into but the storyline is captivating enough to overlook the voice.

I read the hard copies around 6 years ago, I decided to listen to the audio book, and it was as amazing and enchanting as it was back then. Will definitely be listening to the rest

Would you try another book written by Rachel Caine or narrated by Katherine Fenton?

Maybe not this series, but might try something else from Rachel Caine.

What didn’t you like about Katherine Fenton’s performance?

The standard story narration was good, but wasn't fussed on the voices used.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

I was mostly bored. Story never seem to get off the ground & just floundered until the end.

Hard to find a vein in this vampire tale.
