Really helped me

This book has really helped to change my mindset about birth. Rather than this scary painful medical endeavour that will probably go wrong, I am starting to see that birth can an incredible life-affirming experience ; something to revere and celebrate. Thanks Milli

A must read for all birthing people & their crew.

Whoa, what an eye opening book. It provided my partner and myself with hours of constructive discussions. Not only dose it outline the ways in which someone can be or feel let down by the current birthing system but it gifts you with the most valuable tools to help combat aspects that may not suit your needs, wants and desires. I deeply appreciated hearing that my concerns were valid and how to address them within the system so I may have the outcome and experience i desire most. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS MILLI FOR PENNING THIS INVALUABLE RESOURCE.

Essential listening for ALL birthing people

I absolutely loved this book. It doesn't demonize or pit any specific kind of birth against another, so no birthing person will experience it's content as 'shaming'. Its emphasis is on everything you should know about your choices, your healthcare and your RIGHTS as a human. I wish it had been written before my 1st birth, but I've just read it in time for my 2nd and it has opened my eyes and empowered me on so many levels. I want this for every birthing person; please download it! It's invaluable.

A must read!

I’m a nurse in Australia and I’m also expecting my first baby. This has been so beneficial for me to read to challenge the current thoughts and ideas of birth. It will help influence my professional practise, as well as change the culture of birth for my friends and family for the better. I could not stop listening to this audio, it is so well written and read by the author Milli Hill. I feel so empowered and hopeful more people will educate themselves.

A must read for every pregnant family

Very empowering, informative, positive and sadly accurate portrayal of the global maternity system. She quoted thought leaders, particularly my favourites from Australia in such brilliant context. If you read this book I can promise you will love it and it will change your perspective on pregnancy and birth, for the better

Great resource to make informed decisions

From my experience with most feminist groups when addressing pregnancy and birth I was a bit skeptical and hopeful at the same time when I found this book. The way it is written and how it addresses the subject presents information in a way that makes it easy to understand what is happening, why some things are the way they are, why they should change and how it is, indeed, a subject that must be included in the feminist agenda as part of women's rights which are human rights.

Totally one sided

Feminism should be about choice. This book basically starts talking about choice but very one sidedly makes you feel guilty for wanting anything other than a natural birth without medical intervention unless the baby is in danger.

Exceptional and inspiring, I loved it!

Milli, this book is everything women need to know when considering pregnancy or if they are pregnant. This book will hopefully empower women to know and to embrace their right to bodily autonomy in the birth room and without fear...as Milli passionately tells the reader, you are most certainly 'not a vessel'! Give Birth like a Feminist would be my first choice as a mother and a midwife to give my daughter if or when she was considering becoming a mother herself!

Recommended reading for all birth professionals

This book says it how it is...advocating an approach to maternity care that includes putting control over our bodies right back where it should be ... with women. As a midwife I see all to often the damage not being in control does ... the loss of self belief and the impact on parents is immense. Understanding the history of birth allows to appreciate how the current situation has evolved and the analogies with #metoo should focus the minds of all maternity staff to make real changes wherever they can. READ THIS BOOK!!!!
