Great

I looked at this on Audible and saw this terrible review about it. I can't believe the stupid trolls that are out there nowadays, tearing everything down. So I decided to write my own review. It won't be very elaborate, but just a few comments about what I liked. It's very general, so maybe it's not the most helpful, but I just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed the narrator (yes, maybe some difficult names were mispronounced, but who cares?). The narrator is a pro. Also, I thought it was actually really interesting to learn more about Germanic myths. So yeah, not disappointed, happy customer. Thanks.

Great book

This is one of the better mythology books I've listened to, not just because it was about Germanic mythology, but also the narrator, the information, etc. Beautiful cover by the way, must have been hand-drawn.

Perfect

Perfect, well... almost perfect. But it's a great way to learn more about Germanic mythology. Awesome illustration on the cover, by the way.

Calling out the trolls

I saw a complainer who posted some dumb review about this book. It blows my mind how discontent people are over spending a few bucks, especially with informational books like this. I personally liked it a lot, and that's that. Thanks, man. Do your own research, and don't always believe all those reviews.

A total waste of time - do not listen to this!

I paid about $5 for this audio "book", thinking I would learn something about Germanic Mythology. Duh, that's what the title promises! But listening to this piece of garbage was a total waste of time. The whole thing is 1.5 hours long, and in the entire first hour, there is ZERO (not just very little, but ZERO) information on Germanic Mythology. Instead, the listener is tortured with a random and totally disorganized collection of tidbits of information that sometimes have a vague connection to Germany, but often not even that. When the oeuvre finally does turn to Germanic Mythology in the last 30 mins, it again takes the form of a disorganized collection of data tidbits, and the listener comes away with no insight whatsoever into the topic supposedly covered by the "book". To add insult to injury, the narrator not only has an annoying and little modulated tone of voice, but clearly has no knowledge of (or even coaching in) German pronunciation. The way he pronounces German expressions is so badly mangled that I sometimes had to rewind and listen to a word several times to make out what he was trying to say. And I am a native speaker of German. I am seriously considering to ask AUDIBLE for my money back, but it's probably not worth another minute of my time... This is the second product I have purchased from AUDIBLE. The first one was acceptable, but not great. I'll try a few more times, but if this pattern continues, I will stop using the site, and tell all my friends about it. :o(

The voice! It felt like me ears were getting flossed.

This book is not suitable for reading /listener by. The pace , the rhythm , the staccato-ness made it impossible to grasp what was said and on top of that the voice, the diction, the drone, the monotony. , intonation. It was like reading an hour long shopping list.

The info however is so valuable that I sat through it. But the minute you loose focus for a moment, you get lost.

If the voice would have been less harpy I could have fallen in sleep to it. That’s never time wasted.
