Book 1 is great ,Book 2 is meh, Book 3 is good

So this is a collection of 3 stories written by Kim Newman, who wrote the last Genevieve book as well and like with Drachanfels she knocked the first book out of the park.
Well written, very similar feel to her previous work and she is much improved on writing supporting characters.

The second 2 is where it begins to go off the rails with most character interactions having some sexual aspect to them rather than the survival, political, etc motivations of her earlier work.
This follows on in the third book, which pains me to say because the plot was great, the pacing was spot on and the contrasting characters were awesome.
TW
In the last 10 minutes of the 3rd book, she assaults, rapes and then kills a man.
I'm not sure if Newman is trying to show Genevieve's descent into the darkness but it made me feel sick.
I don't want to throw away the whole book for the sake of a bad scene but if this isn't your thing, you might want to skip it.

Antonia Beamish is working on her voices and is making strides but they feel like caricatures now, as if she's overcorrecting for them not sounding different enough before.
