In the olden days, people used to learn about things from encyclopedias. And that was really good, because you could read it, and learn it, then you could stop worrying about thinking. But now, with the Internet and more people and science and research, there's just too much knowledge - more every year - and it's overwhelming. So, after years of asking the big questions - like 'what did people do before evolution?' and 'what is clocks?' - intrepid reporter and visionary philosopher Philomena Cunk is bringing the encyclopedia back.

In Alan Partridge: Nomad, Alan dons his boots, windcheater and scarf and embarks on an odyssey through a place he once knew - it's called Britain - intent on completing a journey of immense personal significance. Diarising his ramble in the form of a 'journey journal', Alan details the people and places he encounters, ruminates on matters large and small and, on a final leg fraught with danger, becomes not a man (because he was one to start off with) but a better, more inspiring example of a man.

At last, the definitive audiobook about perhaps the best cabin crew dramedy ever filmed: View from the Top starring Gwyneth Paltrow. In Ayoade on Top, Richard Ayoade, perhaps one of the most 'insubstantial' people of our age, takes us on a journey from Peckham to Paris by way of Nevada and other places we don't care about. It's a journey deep within, in a way that's respectful and non-invasive; a journey for which we will all pay a heavy price, even if you've waited for the smaller paperback edition. Ayoade argues for the canonisation of this brutal masterpiece.

Publisher's Summary
From the mind of horror master Garth Marenghi: a masterful multi-volume horror masterpiece thirty years in the making...
Dare you crack open the TerrorTome? (Mind the spine)
When horror writer Nick Steen gets sucked into a cursed typewriter by the terrifying Type-Face, Dark Lord of the Prolix, the hellish visions inside his head are unleashed for real. Forced to fight his escaping imagination - now leaking out of his own brain - Nick must defend the town of Stalkford from his own fictional horrors, including avascular-necrosis-obsessed serial killer Nelson Strain and Nick's dreaded throppleganger, the Dark Third.
Can he and Roz, his frequently incorrect female editor, hunt down these incarnate denizens of Nick's rampaging imaginata before they destroy Stalkford, outer Stalkford and possibly slightly further?
From the twisted genius of horror master Garth Marenghi - Frighternerman, Darkscribe, Doomsage (plus Man-Shee) - come three dark tales from his long-lost multi-volume epic: TerrorTome.

Garth is a literary genius
This has been my favourite audiobook to date. As a huge fan of his action packed, award winning tv series i was delighted to see him write a novel.
Excellent descriptions, mind bending twists and turns, witty yet subtle one liners.
I couldn't reccomend this book more highly, narration is top tier. Characters are hilarious.

Disturbed and grotesque.
Garth Marenghi is the master of truly horrific writing. The Terror Tome is a book.
Honestly I think this requires 2 reviews; one where I say this was hilarious and a welcome, very overdue return of Marenghi. I hope it leads to more of their work in the future. This has quickly become a (oc)cult favourite; lots of friends and colleagues who don't usually bother with audiobooks have given this a go and become enthralled.
The 2nd review would praise the meta humour in this. Its played almost perfectly straight and absolutely nails the tropes and idiosyncrasies of the genre. this was a loving roast of all those big names on the British horror market in the 90s. Barker, Herbert, Koontz, King et al. The allusions to Garth's personal life shining through in the writing create an almost tragic subtext.
In short, it's a masterpiece of silliness. Haven't laughed so hard at an audiobook since I, Partridge.

One part Bizzaro, two parts classic Garth Marenghi
About a half hour into this book my mind immediately went to a line in The Other Guys when an astonished Will Ferrell asks, "You learned to dance like that sarcastically?" Anyone familiar with Dark Place will understand the parody character that is Garth Marenghi, but what I didn't expect was the level of prose the author could achieve in this satirical take on the genre. It's pretty impressive. "Garth" really comes to life as an actual horror author with very much the same sensibilities that he has in the show. He understands the conventions of the genre and plays along for a while before straightforwardly pointing it out in his fashion.
The book consists of three stories. The first one sets up the arc, but I would say it's by far the strangest and most uncharacteristic (not the campy Dark Place horror) of the three. I would say it strays into more Bizzaro fiction territory, which is still good for some laughs, but also for a few raised eyebrows and pained faces. The second two are Garth in true style. Where the story languishes or gets too formulaic he's quick to point it out to the reader, with extra helpings of absurdity. It still hits all those chauvinist, egoistical notes from the 2004 parody. I'll be curious to see how it may land with people in 2022 who were not in on the original joke.

Garth Marenghi's latest masterwork of horror.
Audio books were invented for Garth Marenghi. His performance of TerrorTome will be taught through the centuries as the epitome of audiobook narration. TerrorTome is as good or better than Darkplace, Marenghi's renowned masterpiece of TV horror. It, TerrorTome, to be precise, deserves its own televisual adaptation. Liam Neeson, clear your calendar!

When do I laugh?
I’ve listened to this tome of terror half a dozen times searching vainly for the lol bits that surely must exist based on the hundreds of reviews mentioning listeners laughing out loud. Perhaps those reviews were written by Nick Steen’s dark fractions?
As a fan of Darkplace this was an instabuy as soon as I became aware of it. Glad Garth narrated this. It wouldn’t have been the same otherwise.
I wish I had heeded the warnings to skip over the truly disturbing sections, but I listened thinking perhaps those were the funny bits.
Listening to this book was like spending time with an old, narcissistic friend.
It was an enjoyable listen. Mostly.

Marenghi has raised the bar on horror
Hideously graphic. Aggressively erotic. Emotionally taxing. This is a true page turner...if this audio presentation had pages. Marenghi has once again raised the bar of the horror genre. No other book on the planet has ever made me physically ill to the degree Terrortome has. A true exploration of the farthest reaches of the darkest places in the most creatively horrific mind.

I listened during a road trip with my husband and we both had a hilarious time listening to it! Really rather creepy at times but as fans of “Dark Place”, it had us right from the beginning. Definitely worth a read if you’re fan of Garth Marenghi and his “Dark Place” series!

Author. Dreamweaver. Plus narrator.
This is the culmination of the work of a man who has written more books than he has read. More terrifying than “Slicer 2”, darker than “Darkplace”. Listen if you dare…..

A masterpiece from the maestro of the macabre
TerrorTome is a roller-coaster of horror that left me listening with the lights on every night, despite the rising costs of electricity.
Our protagonist Nick Steen is everything you want from a leading man - the sort of chap whose actions speak louder than his words, and his words are deafening. The sort of man that can be flayed and not let it get in the way of his day-to-day admin. He even manages to put up with love-interest Roz, who while not bad for a woman, is still an editor and therefore sub-human.
My only wish is for Audible to create a 'force-play' setting that ensures all listeners take in every blood-dripping word of this text, as some will skip the very necessary descriptions of gore and erotic intimacy (i.e. cowards, woke liberals and the unemployed).
Do yourself a favour and purchase a physical copy to read along with this audiobook, as it not only supports the author, but reading it at the same time creates a sort of "psychic stereo" effect, with double the impact of a solo read.
Bon appetit (french for "get stuck in").

Wears thin
I loved the original tv show, and also the audiobook for the first 3-4hrs - but in the end I ditched it with a couple of hours to go. It’s just too much of a good thing, it needs more characters/voices to break it up. I can’t believe I’m saying it, but it became a bit boring halfway through. The quality of the stories themselves can’t sustain it, and the narration, while seeming brilliant at first, starts to wash over you until you aren’t really listening anymore, just waiting for the occasional funny line. I feel bad writing this.

Scary
BE WARNED
This is a scary book.
The performance of the author was great, the story went on a bit but overall was entertaining, and the book as a whole kept me engaged for the full length.
The first story (of 3) was by far the best and most imaginative , the remaining 2 were not on the same level, but still enjoyable

its fun, but a lot.
I love Garth Merenghi. it's a fantastic comedy and I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. But this is a lot of Garth Merenghi. Maybe dare I say it, too much Garth Marenghi. it's fantastic if all you want is 8 hours of solid bad novels told in a totally satire way, but may e break it down into a couple of weeks of 15 minute chunks.

Truly a pillar of the horror community.
Groundbreaking, stunning, breathtaking, diabolical, visionary, terrifying, horrid, disgusting, amazing, fantastical and downright knee trembling.
This audio book rocked me to my core, made me rethink my entire life and may lead to myself moving to Bosnia.
Thank you Garth, you are a hero.

A Long time to be hearing the same 4 jokes
I loved Garth Mahrengi's dark place and it's a staple in my family. I was excited to get more of it finally, but I'm sad to say the transition to a longer format made the same line of humour very repetitive. Particularly when there's no visual comedy to mix in

Pilgrim - prepare to be terrified
From the amazing mind of Garth Marenghi comes this edge of your seat terrifying tome. Read by the author himself. Settle in uncomfortably for the ride of your mind.
