About this listen

New York Admirals captain Scott Hunter takes his pregame rituals very seriously. In this case, it's not just a lucky smoothie he's craving - it's the man who made it.

Pro hockey star Scott Hunter knows a good thing when he sees it. So, when a smoothie made by juice bar barista Kip Grady precedes Scott breaking his on-ice slump, he's desperate to recreate the magic...and to get to know the sexy, funny guy behind the counter.

Kip knew there was more to Scott's frequent visits than blended fruit, but he never let himself imagine being invited back to Scott's penthouse. Or kissed with reckless abandon, never mind touched everywhere all at once. When it happens, it's red-hot, incredible, and frequent, but also only on Scott's terms and always behind his closed apartment doors.

Scott needs Kip in his life, but with playoff season approaching, the spotlight on him is suddenly brighter than ever. He can't afford to do anything that might derail his career...like introducing the world to his boyfriend. Kip is ready to go all-in with Scott - but how much longer will he have to remain a secret?

Story was good. Can’t continue with this narrator. The Kip accent (not even sure what accent it was meant to be but it definitely wasn’t consistent) was terrible. There also wasn’t any difference in the tones between the characters. So it was hard to work out who was talking when they were doing their POV

DNF due to narrator

I loved the story but sorry to say the narrator made me cringe.
His voice for Kip was ridiculous. I have no idea why he made him sound like that. I had to DNF and read the book instead

Great story / narrator ruined it

Closeted hockey captain of the NY Admirals, Scott Hunter is off his game until he meets juice bar barista, Kip Grady. Whereas Scott is hugely successful, Kip feels like he’s drifting. If they can make their secret relationship work, it will be a game changer for both of them. Although this followed the well-worn script of most m/m sports romances, there is a strong emphasis on Kip’s struggles to go back into the closet that sets it apart. Scott and Kip are well-drawn characters and there were enough appearances of other characters to avoid a claustrophobic focus on the two leads. The final scenes (no spoilers) really captured the moods of the competing teams perfectly. Audio narrator, Tor Thom has a pleasant soothing baritone. He voiced all characters well except for Kip, whose Brooklyn accent sounded stoned and weird; however, it wasn’t a deal breaker.

A winning m/m hockey romance!

The narration really detracts from the story. I can't even work out what kind of accent he's trying to do for Kip but it sounds ridiculous.

Good story, terrible narrator
