I believe the story would have been good however the narration was a deal breaker for me. I tried as much as I could but unfortunately I just couldn't go on.

Aside from absolutely ridiculous butchering of a Brooklyn “accent” by the Narrator (Kip) I just LOVED this book - I was totally invested in Scott and Kips happiness. I’ve just started watching Heated Rivalry and about to start the book of the same name - I’m glad it’s not over. I’m hoping no one in HR has an accent for Tor to mangle 😅

Good story, average writing, terrible narration, leaves the book coming out somewhere in the middle. Totally devoted to the TV series though.

This is a secret relationship to more hockey romance, featuring Kip Grady and Scott Hunter, and is book one in the Game Changers series.

Kip is a college graduate and currently works in a smoothie shop while he pays off his student loans and figures out his next steps. He meets Scott while working one day. Scott is a professor hockey player and is currently in a slump but one smoothie later and it seems to have turned his slump around. He visits the shop again because, hello! hockey superstitions, and it doesn’t hurt that the smoothie maker makes his heart flutter.

This book is so sweet and a great start to the series. It’s a little angsty as Scott is in the closet and they are in a secret relationship but I loved how their relationship developed. Lots of love in this book, not just between Scott and Kip but also from their friends and family. Ps. Scott is such a dirty talker, oh la la.

This was a reread for me but it felt like reading it for the first time. I loved it all over again.
