Publisher's Summary

A royal wedding, an ancient legend, and a mysterious murder. The big day has finally arrived, and Imogen, Iggy, and the bakers head to the Fire Kingdom for Hank and Shaday’s wedding. Imogen is totally fine with it - or so she keeps telling herself. Even the murder of a famous wedding guest can’t stop the impending nuptials. So when Imogen’s repressed feelings magically ruin her baking and she’s banned from the kitchen, she sets herself to finding the killer. Her search leads her through the desert kingdom’s bustling marketplaces and the maze-like riad, to discover underground movements, shady characters, and more secrets about the people around her than she thought possible. Could the killer be the clever journalist or the rebellious palace maid? Perhaps it’s a member of the royal family. With the Fire Kingdom’s people churning for change, a mysterious artifact missing from the museum, and a dastardly plot brewing, Imogen begins to feel the heat. When Horace contacts her and makes her a tempting offer, she struggles to choose between him and her new friends. Imogen’s choice will have enormous consequences over a deadly plot that threatens the people she loves. Will she stop a killer and find a happy ending in the process? Or will an ancient legend come to life and destroy them all?

Enjoyable Listen

As Hank’s wedding day looms closer, Imogen finds herself caught up in a mystery once more, a welcome distraction indeed. What’s more, she finds herself running into Horace repeatedly. Can she have both in her life or will she be forced to choose?

Wedding Surprises Abound

This is the fifth book in this series, and like the four before, I loved it. Imogen and the bakery crew are in Fire Kingdom to witness and assist with Prince Hank’s wedding. Of course, things don’t go as planned. Imogen is once again pressed into investigating a murder, as she does, she learns some unexpected things about Hank’s fiancée, Shaday. Iggy, the ever entertaining and helpful little fire, joins Imogen in figuring out who-done-it.

If you’ve been following this series, I think you’ll be delighted with how this book turns out. If you’re new to the series, I strongly suggest starting at the beginning, but you shouldn’t have too much trouble if you start with this book. I can almost guarantee that you’ll fall in love with the characters, the setting, and the situations in each book in the series.

I adore these books. Each one is a tantalizing mix of mystery, romance, humor, and friendship. The narration is spectucular. I can’t think of another series that I enjoy so much. Listening to this book worked magic to ease some of the stress that the current Coronavirus situation has wrought. That was much appreciated.

I received a free copy of the audiobook version of this book from the author. I thank her for her generosity, but it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reactions to listening to this audiobook.

Amazing series!!!

I love this series soo much and it’s perfectly written. It has combined my two favorites, and witches and mysteries all into a perfect book. Also the narrator has such a great voice and makes the books even better!! Highly recommend this because the mysteries are always better than expected!

Fantastic

Another fantastic adventure with Imogen and her friends. This time Imogen and the gang are working on Prince Harry's wedding cake etc. Of course a murder happens and Imogen is determine to solve it. This time they are in the Fire Kingdom and a lot happens on this adventure. This book kept me in stitches laughing so hard with all the antics that Imogen is involved with. I love all the characters but Iggy is still my favorite. He cracks me up.

I was gifted this book at my request in exchange for an honest review.

I do want to say that Hannah Somerville is a fantasti narrator and i could not imagine anyone else doing these books.

the plot thickens

This is my second time enjoying this book BUT listening to it is such an extra pleasure. There was this one part where Iggy is laughing that had me in stitches too, the timing of the way those lines were delivered was perfect!

Another spell binding book

Wow I really enjoyed this book. This is book 5 and it is like catching up with old friends as I love all the characters in this series, they are so bright and colourful just what you want to lose your self with for a couple of hours. It definitely has cast a spell over me, so much so that I have to listen to it all in one go. The mystery is good but it is the interactions between the characters that makes it for me.
It has finally arrived the big day that everybody has been looking forward to. Well okay Imogen isn't looking forward to seeing her Prince walk arm and arm down the aisle with another woman but as one of the royal bakers she has to be there and there is nothing that can stop the arranged marriage from going ahead, not even a murder the night before. Imogen is taking it bad and not even the support from her friends can get her out of her funk, so she turns to an unlikely source for comfort and uncovers a deadly plan that might just end all her worries and her friends lives.
I really like the narrator and her bubbly personally really comes over well in her story telling, bringing the characters to life before your very eyes. A spell catching book.

My favourite so far

It's time for Prince Hank and Shaday to marry and Imogen is not dealing with it well. Her emotions & magic affect her baking and she is banished from the kitchen. Horace is on hand to add to Imogen's confusion and there are conspiracies all around.
I really enjoyed Shaday becoming a more fleshed out character in this book - she has been quite one dimensional in previous books, and she shines here.
An exciting addition to the series
