Die politische Ordnung, die seit Napoleons Niederlage in Europa Bestand hatte, brach in sich zusammen. Überall entstanden neue politische Ideen. Es ging um die Rolle der Frau, das Ende der Sklaverei, das Recht auf Arbeit, nationale Unabhängigkeit und die jüdische Emanzipation.
