About this listen

With a healthy disregard for rules, he attracts trouble like a magnet. He has a newly assigned apprentice - the unfortunate Detective Constable Barnard - the Chief Constable’s nephew. Fresh to the provinces, just up from London in an embarrassingly flash suit, he’s ripe for Frost’s satire.

Light hearted

The best of the Seven Frost Series. R D Winfield gives more sympathy to Frost than later works.

Best of the Frost series

A great favourite of mine, both the TV series and the book. The narrator is perhaps the best I have heard too. Crystal clear and resonant with fine voice characterisations.

This is Frost in the raw. Shambolic, vulgar, uncouth, irreverent but with a fine analytical mind and not an ambitous bone in his body. The complete antithesis of his Superintendent.

A lovable curmudgeon for mine and the best of a quaint, darkly humoured reality of the time.

Perfect
