Publisher's Summary

Dear diary,

Once upon a time...there was a girl with long, golden hair who had the truest, bluest eyes that turned white when she cried.

She lived in a kingdom far, far away in a tower made of stone, but her mind was made of glass that she kept sharp as knives.

Where her memories hid behind her darkest doubts. Her deepest thoughts. Her diary became the only thing she could rely on.

No one saw through her looking glass. No one cared. No one tried.

Until the villain presented himself as the hero in her life. He took and took and took some more.

With no regret. With no shame. With no apology.

The page never turned. Their story didn’t end. Tomorrow never came. His life of debauchery was their journey to nowhere.

She’d give anything to go back in time. To walk where she had walked. To see what she had seen. One step. One breath. One day at a time. Though in the end, “I love you” were just words.

That destroyed us inside.

rock star material...I've listened to better

the storyline was a suprise for me, I never imagined the rise of a rock star written in this way. it kinda kept you listening as the story flipped back and forth revealing more of the heroes demons as it progressed.
as this was a first time listen by this author and the narrator's ( except troy duran but have listened to him as the sole male narrator and as the main character)
I felt Ms Robinson skimmed a little too much. the quick flow of plot as he rose to fame was acceptable but when he did connect with the Important characters, I felt she didn't capitalise on it. she describes their feelings and how it all but consumes them and the connection they have but the gritty soul taking doesn't quite seem to get there.
the best I have ever read in this genre was CAKE by J Bengtsson. now that blew me out of the water. Kylie Scott's Stage Dive series fared well and then some of books from Lauren Rowe's The Morgan brothers series was ok too. but heartbreaking, gritty gut wrenching...is CAKE.
as i got half way through I guessed Journey would appear and book 2 I'm assuming is the road to healing....well I hope it is..or I'm gonna have a few choice words....even In saying that I am aware of journeys dilemma.
the writing of emotion was there but it felt it rolled on too quickly. the change in the hero once seeing her was a pretty profound and sudden shift even though the story up till then was a life of what the band was called. I also questioned his health. After hearing he hadn't remained clean from the day of the fatal revelation...... that's a lottta years .
just a bit thin in a few places for me but i will continue with book 2 to see it through.
and the lyrics of the songs....nooope didn't work for me.
narrator's ok, Marcio was great as cash but the Singing....meh!
Addison did good voices for little and big journey.
