About this listen

Born to an American myth and raised in the wilds of Graceland, Lisa Marie Presley tells her whole story for the first time in this raw, riveting, one-of-a-kind memoir faithfully completed by her daughter, Riley Keough.

In 2022, Lisa Marie Presley asked her daughter to help finally finish her long-gestating memoir.

A month later, Lisa Marie was dead, and the world would never know her story in her own words, never know the passionate, joyful, caring, and complicated woman that Riley loved and grieved.

Riley got the tapes that her mother had recorded for the book, laid in her bed, and listened as Lisa Marie told story after story about smashing golf carts together in the yards of Graceland, about the unconditional love she felt from her father, about being upstairs, just the two of them. About getting dragged screaming out of the bathroom as she ran towards his body on the floor. About living in Los Angeles with her mother, getting sent to school after school, always kicked out, always in trouble. About her singular, lifelong relationship with Danny Keough, about being married to Michael Jackson, what they shared in common. About motherhood. About deep addiction. About ever-present grief. Riley knew she had to fulfill her mother's wish to reveal these memories, incandescent and painful, to the world.

To make her mother known.

This extraordinary book is composed of both Lisa Marie's and Riley's voice, a mother and daughter communicating across the transom of death as they try to heal each other. Profoundly moving and deeply revealing, From Here to the Great Unknown is a book like no other-the last words of the only child of a true legend.

The honesty, emotion, and integrity shone through from start to finish. I thoroughly enjoyed this heartfelt memoir and Riley has truly done her mother, brother, and Grandfather proud.

Loved this book. Riley has done a great job of honouring her mother. Loved it.

How honest this was

I enjoyed the performance, both actors have great voices for the content.
LMP was the privileged, selfish, potty-mouth daughter of Elvis, and the content of this bio makes her hard to like. The entire family is deeply dysfunctional and lived in hedonistic free-fall. Without actually achieving very much, she used money and drugs to justify her beliefs. With little insight into her level of privilege, she ultimately was destroyed by it.
Her daughter identifies her as a loving mother, despite being raised by staff.
I found the constant banter about how hard her life was very tiring. It was entertaining, but a little repetitive. Holiday listening maybe.

I cried. A lot. What a beautiful family - full of love and yet so much tragedy.

So much love and heart in her family

Beautiful but very sad. Confronting and yet soothing. Thank you Lisa Marie and Riley for sharing.

I loved this audio book from the very start to finish! Julia Roberts and Riley Keough do an impeccable job voicing this rollercoaster of a biography on behalf of Lisa-Marie!
Highly recommend even if you aren’t familiar with Lisa-Marie’s history!

Captivating from the beginning

There is a lot of love in this book. Love Lisa Marie had for her very famous Dad and her children. Love Riley has for her mother and family. This is the best kind of memoir, where the author/s are trying to make sense of and process what happened in their lives. I have also experienced a close family member's suicide and have my own issues, so can relate to a lot of the latter part. There are some headline parts of this that might have brought you here but it is the genuine undercurrent throughout that makes this a really good read/listen.
I've been a fan of Riley's since Daisy Jones and the Six but I got sucked in from catching some of Oprah like everybody else.
