Publisher's Summary

A gift that's too good to be true. A murder she didn't commit. A barista in a latte trouble...

Mitzy Moon believes she's an orphan, so she's dumbstruck when a special delivery to her low-rent apartment reveals a family. But her shock turns to awe when she discovers her grandmother left her a fortune and a bookshop of rare tomes brimming with magic.

No sooner does she set foot in the quirky village of Pin Cherry Harbor to claim her inheritance, than the handsome sheriff catches her standing over a corpse. Desperate to prove her innocence, she's forced to accept help from her granny's entitled cat and a spirit from beyond the grave.

Can Mitzy and her otherworldly helpers uncover the real killer before the long, sexy arm of the law hauls her to jail?

Enjoyable

I came across this story when i was looking for a new cozy mystery series. I don't do much paranormal however i enjoyed our Casper in this one. Fun narration (though a couple of times I thought she sounded like Jane from Daria (And now I am showing my age). I liked our snarky leading lady Mitzy and the spark between her and the Sheriff. I look forward to more of this series

Like and Dislike

You know when you want something like a specific flavor of ice cream on a hot summers day and you get to the store and all the flavors are there EXCEPT the one flavor you want....so you choose another flavor but it's just not "hitting the nail on the head" when it comes to that craving you initially wanted......This is how I felt about this story and the narrator. I really enjoyed the story but felt the narrator was all wrong for the story to be told. The narrator would be fantastic if given a different type of story to narrate. Like I said, I liked the story and Coleen Marlo voice is nice but too "upbeat" to tell this story. She lacks the snark in her tone for teenage attitude which in my opinion took away from the story and made it hard for me to feel involved in the story line. I'm sure Coleen would "kill it" when it came to other stories, just not teenage sass.

Great Freshmen Opener for New Cozy Mystery

This is a hysterical beginner book for a new series. Imagine inheriting a magical book store from a grandma you never knew you had...and the real surprise is that grandma's ghost is still with you in the store. "Ghostma" is a hoot, not shy, and not prudish!! She and her granddaughter prove quite a team. Excellent fun read.

I was expecting something slow like other paranormal cozy mysteries I've read lately but this was really cute, witty and kept me interested. I'm buying the next book now!

I love Mitzy's snarky humor!

Mitzy's drastic change in life shows how much she's rough around the edges. I'm not sure what it saiys about me that I get all her jokes, but I love it. I read the book and listened to the audio book, and the reader did a great job bringing it to life for me.

great book

loved the book and the storyline, lots of tearjerker moments. I wasnt too fond of the person narrating the book, as I felt she didnt put enough emotion into the reading, but I still loved the book overall.

Absolutely delightful!

It was so much fun to have one of my favorite cozy mysteries come to life through the wonderful narration by Colleen Marlo. I enjoyed revisiting the snarky, insecure young woman who unexpectedly inherits a bookstore in a place she's never heard of only to find a cute town sheriff who accuses her of murder almost as soon as she steps of the bus. As Mitzy explores her new home she discovers a ghost, an alchemist lawyer, a long lost father and whole cast of wonderful characters. I love this audio version of a thoroughly enjoyable book and can't wait to hear more!

2 and a half stars

Fries and Alibis is ok but the pace is slow. I finished the book but I'm not sure about the next one.
