David's book is based on his article "My Addicted Son", which appeared in the New York Times Magazine. Sheff is a contributing editor of Playboy Magazine and has written for many publications. He has published several books including Game Over and China Dawn.

Then, John Powers reviews Where To and Back, a newly released DVD trilogy from the late Austrian director Axel Corti. The three films included in the set are God Doesn't Believe in Us Anymore (1982), Santa Fe (1985), and Welcome in Vienna (1986).
