Publisher's Summary

Improve your listening comprehension and make learning new vocabulary so much easier with seven French short stories. Introducing a fun and effective method of learning French. When you can't slip away from daily life to immerse yourself in a French-speaking country, listening to French stories is the next best thing.

By learning this way, you will be able to:

  • Understand grammar concepts without the monotonous chore of memorizing rules
  • Grasp new vocabulary that you can immediately put to use in everyday conversations, and
  • Practice your listening skills with the stories narrated by a native French speaker

Familiarize yourself with spoken French. The over ten hours of audio recorded by French native speakers will drastically improve your pronunciation. Each story is recorded in several ways:

  • Female voice
  • Male voice
  • Vocabulary audio flash-card

No more need for a dictionary. Each story is broken down with a French and English glossary to introduce you to the words and phrases you might not understand. This removes any painful back-and-forth process of continually searching for definitions or translations.

Ideal for beginner and intermediate level. The stories are written for new French learners, but a basic understanding of French is recommended for maximum enjoyment and effectiveness of the lessons. Perfect for anyone who wants to brush up on their French.

PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.

only a couple hours of content

it wasnt clear that there is only a couple of hours of content if listened to at full speed- way too expensive for just a few extracts if you dont need all of the speeds.

Passé simple

It would be helpful if the stories could be told without using the passé simple. This is not helpful when people are trying to learn conversational french

Fantastic job.

The most important of all is that you actually read a story, and learn from it, rather than just study the language. The stories are fun, and you feel a fulfillment while reading them. Still, they are not "too simple", and that is because I feel that my brain is having an exercise while reading it, but that feeling is present when you actually are absorbing the language and learning it.

Highly recommend.

I would recommend to anyone learning French to exercise their vocabulary, but after first establishing a basic working vocabulary and understanding of past tense.

Recommend this book.

I recommend that you try to make your own sentences with the new vocabulary. Also, there are some multiple choice questions that help you know if you understood what you read. I can completely recommend this book.

Valuable.

Great storybook! As a beginner, The authors give clear directions on how to read the book and how to develop our reading skills one chapter at a time. In my opinion, it is here, in these clear directions and very diverse stories offered to put the ‘theory’ into practice, where the most valuable feature of this book resides.

New vocabulary are excellent!

The stories contain a lot of dialogue between characters so the reader gets an idea of how informal conversational French is spoken. Also, the directions for how to read the stories and learn the new vocabulary are excellent!

I like the fact it has the vocabulary translated

I like the fact it has the vocabulary translated to English and the short stories make it easier for me to understand. I bought the first Short Stories for Beginners and now I am learning even more from French-speaking and listening with this book.

It makes it easier to follow.

It makes it easier to follow. It's laid out fairly neatly and is pretty easy to understand. There are also places where you can "practice your writing." Half of learning a foreign language is learning to write it, so this is a great addition to the text and gives it an interactive element.

This is a great book for anyone.

This is a great book for anyone looking to practice their French comprehension and writing. I got the digital book and I really liked that the book presented a vocabulary list for each chapter because I was not yet familiar with some of the phrases they used in the stories

Great for learning French.

I like the fact that various audio options are available and that a lot of colloquialisms areused and explained.
