Langfartskaptajnen går i land...
Efter i mange år at have sejlet verdenshavene tynde blev Troels Kløvedal en overgang landkrabbe og afhændede sit gode skib Nordkaperen. Han fik travlt som foredragsholder over hele landet, forelskede sig og skulle være far.
Men så meldte udlængselen sig igen.
For sine sammensparede penge købte han resterne af det fordum så stolte skib tilbage, nu kun et masteløst, rustent skrog. Istandsættelsen varede et helt år, men så blev Kaperen også tip-top. Og med Ruth og deres nyfødte datter Gurli Marie om bord gik kursen atter fra Frederiksholms Kanal ud mod nye eventyr.
