Publisher's Summary

An unlikely pair teams up to investigate a brutal murder in a haunting thriller that walks the line between reality and impossibility.

When small-town police officers discover the grave of a young boy, they’re quick to pin the crime on a convicted felon who lives nearby. But when it comes to murder, Officer Susan Marlan never trusts a simple explanation, so she’s just getting started.

Meanwhile, college professor Eric Evans hallucinates a young boy in overalls: a symptom of his schizophrenia - or so he thinks. But when more bodies turn up, Eric has more visions, and they mirror details of the murder case. As the investigation continues, the police stick with their original conclusion, but Susan’s instincts tell her something is off. The higher-ups keep stonewalling her, and the FBI’s closing in.

Desperate for answers, Susan goes rogue and turns to Eric for help. Together they take an unorthodox approach to the case as the evidence keeps getting stranger. With Eric’s hallucinations intensifying and the body count rising, can the pair separate truth from illusion long enough to catch a monster?

Loved it!!

This was a great book! Haunting and sad, but inevitably victorious in the end. Would recommend to anyone who loves a good mystery.

You will NEVER guess the ending of this book...

Wow! Holy Smokes! Vivian Barz...where did you come from?!? Phenomenal. Engaging. Unique. Eerie. And truly mesmerizing.

This story starts off with getting to know two characters: Susan- a detective on the case of recently found bones of a child; Eric, a college professor with schizophrenia.

When the two meet (quite deep in the story, I might add), the real story begins. The case starts to unravel and Vivian Barz takes us on quite a journey.

My one piece of advice: don’t try and guess the ending, let it happen naturally. You will be SHOOK!

Also, Julie McKay did A FABULOUS job! Her narration was PERFECTION!!

I did not see that coming!

FORGOTTEN BONES is the outstanding serial killer novel by Vivian Barz. Barz is a very experienced author of mostly romance novels written using the name Sloan Archer. I generally avoid listening to novels that use the supernatural, but in this case the supernatural aspect is relatively minor. The greatest strength of this novel is the unexpected and unforeseeable plot twist near the end. It appears this is the first of a series. I hope Susan Marlan and Eric Evans will continue a co-protagonists. Julie McKay does a great job of narration.

Gripping tale!

This book kept me riveted until the end...the ‘lose sleep’ kind of riveting! A schizophrenic geology professor who is having dreams that are connected to horrific murders. A small town cop who is determined to get answers in spite of being warned to back off. Who will solve the case before it’s too late?

Very Enjoyable Listen

Purchased this on a whim, I really enjoyed listening to it... left me wanting more by this author. The narrator was also very good, had a good command of voices for the different characters, it had me hooked. I hope we see the same two main characters again.
