Publisher's Summary

Foreign Enemies and Traitors is set in the near future in an America that is creeping steadily toward socialist tyranny, in the midst of the second Great Depression. A year after earthquakes have devastated the Tennessee Valley, survivors are resisting demands by the federal government to relocate to FEMA refugee centers. United States National Guard units have proven ineffective at forcing these survivors out of the earthquake-damaged regions, due to their reluctance to employ deadly force against fellow Americans. As a result, the president has invited so-called foreign peacekeeping battalions to do the work of forcibly relocating the holdouts. The novel follows a small group of determined survivors in their resistance to the foreign enemies, and the American traitors who are their allies.

A Great Trilogy That Kept Getting Better!

What made the experience of listening to Foreign Enemies and Traitors the most enjoyable?

The story is IMO, the best dytopian fiction written to date, and I have read all of the top 100 plus books of this genre. It is realistic, believable, exciting, and well written. It culminates the Trilogy and pulls all of the pieces and charecters together. This third book was more than 20 hours long and I drug out the last few hours because I hated for it to end.

What did you like best about this story?

The story started in Book 1 and was frighteningly plausable, and the charectors were real life and when put into their situations acted in a realistic manner... they were informed, the story put their life experience to work, and they improvised as they went. It made me feel that Americans have the will, the knowledge and the ability to match their circumstances and prevail. Not always win, not without heartache and loss, but Yankee ingenuity can win out. This book can be read stand-alone without reading 1 and 2 but why? You'll just go and buy them anyway once you get started in this...

Have you listened to any of Mike Kemp’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to and enjoyed all three of Mike Kemp's Audible offerings, all with this trilogy. He has a rich (baritone?) voice with a bit of southern gentleman accent. To his credit he does not try to switch voices to sound like a woman or other changes in tone to separate charectors and the book is written in a manner that doesn't require it. His tone, volume and manner of speaking do vary as needed for emphasis and right as they should. I also have the hard copy and Mr. Kemp's performance is virtuallt flawless. His performance was good in book 1 and got even better as he went forward through Book 2 and very good in Book 3. I am very grateful to Mike Kemp for his narration, because of him we have more than 70 hours of Matt Bracken's excellent Enemies Foreign and Domestic Trilogy done well.

If you could take any character from Foreign Enemies and Traitors out to dinner, who would it be and why?

I would take Ranya Bardiwell out to dinner to any restaurant she wanted. She is intelligent, practical, very well trained, determined and principled way beyond most men or women, and... she is young, beautiful, a couragious Mother and Patriot, and she can outshoot most guys what is not to love about this woman?

Any additional comments?

Having this book and the entire Trilogy of Enemies Foreign and Domestic on audio is the best gift I've given to myself in years... I enjoy it because it is an excellent story and more... I learn from it, from Matt Bracken, a real deal SEAL who has actually been there and done that and wrote about what is happening and may yet happen in our country. It is eerie how prescient his Trilogy is... it is coming too true, too quickly. It is an excellent value. Buy it. Read it, you'll be glad you did!

Every American needs to read this.

This book, along with the other books in this trilogy, is, hands down, the most important work of fiction any American can read. I could say the same for our European neighbors, as they seem to be fast tracked to the events contained in these books as well. Well done, Mr. Bracken. Mr. Kemp, thank you for taking so much time for the narration of this series.

Where We Must Not Go

The audio performance was very good, once I got used to the narrator’s foreign accent. He seems to be from the CSA or the Republic of Texas.

The story line is a good warning of where we must not go and what we must not tolerate. As I write this in July 2020, such a situation exists in Portland, Obregon, where the police stand down while looters trash small businesses (That’s ok because they are evil capitalist petty bourgeoisie). Here in Southern California during the Rodney King mayhem of 1993, Korean businesses were not looted because they were protected by the second amendment.

One technical error: Obama was the first obvious mixed race president, and we should thank him for his greatest accomplishment: bringing social justice to Bin Laden.

I have read Matthew Bracken since he was "ONLIINE"

With book One in this series. THE only reason "Performance" is a 3 star is due to what I would assume is poor editing of the reading itself. There are More than a Few "repeated" partial sentences in this The 3rd book, I had not read All of book 2, so I bought & listened to it first. Overall, A Great Author ! ! !

Exemplary

The story is just fantastic. I know some are used to Rc Bray for his great performances. But Mike kemp i think is good for this story the southern draw makes me feel like I’m living in Virginia. Ohhhhh wait I am living in the communist wealth of Virginia. Watching this series unfold right here and now in 2020.. I just hope the courts hold up the 2A so the people don’t have to. God bless America and all her children!

Thought provoking

This Trilogy was really a good story. I really enjoyed it. The performance could have been a little better but I got use to Mr Kemp’s style. And it wasn’t a problem at all. I will download more of Mr Brackens work!
