About this listen

Five women reluctantly leave the city for a challenging hike across the rugged Giralang Ranges as part of a corporate retreat. Only four come out the other side. Federal Police Agent Aaron Falk has a particularly keen interest in the whereabouts of the missing bushwalker.

Alice Russell is the whistleblower in his latest case - and Alice knew secrets. About the company she worked for and the people she worked with. In an investigation that takes Falk from corporate heartland to isolated bushland, he discovers that every person on that retreat had something to hide....

Helenrae - great narration - would have liked more closure - seemed to just get started when it finished

Steve Shanahan - excellent narrator

Great story by Jane Harper, the second of the Aaron Falk novels, ably narrated by Steve Shanahan. Only disappointment was that Shanahan's narration was a little too fast at the start but settled down to the right pace eventually. Loved it! Hoping there's a third in the Aaron Falk series read by Shanahan; his warm tone and Aussie accent are in harmony with Harper quality writing.

Love this author & narrator combo.

Really enjoyed the individual story lines and how you developed each one - sad to think technology of today can be so good and so dangerous (explicit photos in the wrong hands).
Apologies to the narrator as I found it difficult to listen to.
Love listening to Australian stories with the lingo and locations xxx

There are a lot of books to choose from in the mystery/crime genre. I found this one to be only average. I think it would have benefited from the use of 2 readers, the other being female. I found the reading a bit limited and although the novel itself is average a better reading would have lifted it.

I was quite disappointed in this book, it was atmospheric but ultimately
quite lightweight, which surprised me given the tremendous reviews of her first book. Perhaps I had too high expectations. I picked this book because of the bushwalking theme, so then I found myself critiquing the women’s camping equipment: Hello! head torch! and who wouldn’t carry a spare fuel canister amongst that many people for a three day hike. I have now turned into that person.

Did not meet expectations
