Publisher's Summary

Best-selling novelist Robyn Carr continues her popular Virgin River series with Forbidden Falls.

Recently ordained minister Noah Kincaid is used to taking on new challenges, so he has no problem tackling the renovation of the long-abandoned Virgin River church. But that’s before he meets the stunningly beautiful—and stubbornly headstrong—Ellie Baldwin. She may not be exactly what Noah wants in an assistant, but she may be exactly what he needs.

Take another trip down the Virgin River.

Excellent!

Great, great story. As with all the Virgin River books this one has a main story and other side stories in it. The story of Noah and Ellie is very sweet you can see their love develop and grow as many changes happen in their lives. Narrator is excellent as always (she is one of the best at Audible). Very credit worthy and I will listen to this one again...you will too.

Mixed bag

I like the writing and narration and I like that the focus is on the main couple and did not jump around too much but two things made me not love this. First was Paul’s surprising Vanni with his former lover’s baby. Robyn tried to sell it but I couldn’t buy it. Yes, it happens in real life and it makes for a great conflict but the situation made me dislike both Paul and Vanni and they didn’t deserve that kind of regression in character development. My second problem also has something to do with character development. The choice for Noah to be so unlike a typical minister is extreme. Yes, he’s only human but his sins are too many for his position as a man of the church. There also wasn’t much remorse for his worldly transgressions. If he has another job, I’ll have no criticism whatsoever with his actions and language. As such, I don’t have much respect for his character. I liked Ellie though. She’s sassy and irreverent. I still love the series but this is not my favorite.

A Wonderful Series

Review:

"Forbidden Falls" by Robyn Carr was another good read of this author's 'Virgin River Series.' This series was of Noah and Ellie. This was a wonderful romantic story of a pastor from a new town who finds love on 'from the other side of the tracks.' There will also be a secondary story involving a past hero/heroine who will have a 'heart tugging change of events that will be brought into their lives.' Now, to truly understand this second story you may need to go back a series to see what is up with Paul and Vanessa. This author really knows her stuff in being able to put all of these series together that they seem to flow so smoothly off of the pages as you read them. The reader will also be able to find out about the secrets of the puppies and with that being said you must pick up "Forbidden Falls" to read it for yourself to see how this author will bring it all out to you. It is a good read.

There will be so much going on in "Forbidden Fall" that once you start reading you will find it hard to put down and when you do you will be wanting the next series # 10 "Angel's Peak."

Forbidden Pleasure...

Where does Forbidden Falls rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I love the Virgin River series. It's my favorite romance series in Audible and I've listened to several. You can always count on Robyn Carr to deliver an interesting love story and on Therese Plummer to deliver a flawless narration.

What did you like best about this story?

Ellie and Noah's story is wonderful because two very different people find each other and make their relationship work against the odds. This story makes you think about the pre conceived notions we have of some people and how by being judgemental we can loose the opportunity of meeting someone amazing...

Have you listened to any of Therese Plummer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Therese Plummer is the best narrator out there. Period. She makes a good story, great and a bad story, nice. She's consistently excellent!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No extreme reaction, but I did enjoy it a lot.

Any additional comments?

Read the Virgin River series in order. Past characters continue to develop on each book.

simple and formulaic but sweet and enjoyable

Robyn Carr has a formula in these books. One big, strong, handsome man is lonely but may not realize it, and ready for love but certainly doesn't know it. One sweet, good-hearted, petite and beautiful woman who wants a man that is ready for real commitment. They both find themselves in Virgin River - often with friends in common The rest is history. They fall in love, and start planning their future children. The books are sweet, cozy, warm. Nothing here will surprise you, but they will entertain you. You get what you are hoping for here. Good people who fall in love. My biggest complaint about this series is that because each volume involves a new romance, the characters I really care about are virtually nonexistent in the future volumes. I would love if there was more follow up on the characters who are already in Virgin River.

Funny and Touching!

Any additional comments?

This one is about a widowed pastor and an exotic dancer with two kids whom she lost custody of to a wack job ex-husband. Some of the previous characters popped in and out or were mentioned and briefly updated. The primary focus of this story involved children: wanting, raising, gaining custody, fostering, adopting and conceiving. Whew!! Also, there was a touch of Christian topics throughout as well as thoughtful-witty advice sprinkled in. I thought the relationship between the pastor and ex-stripper mom was at times funny and witty! I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Hot!

I thought this book was pretty hot. I liked both main characters and thought they had great chemistry. I haven't been disappointed yet with a RC book; she just draws you in and makes you feel like one of the locals. Although both main characters are new, there is quite a bit of info explained regarding some of the previous characters, so I recommend starting at the beginning with Virgin River and listening to them in order so you have a good grasp of the character base. Otherwise the other supplemental information won't mean much to you.

Oh, and Therese Plummer once again rocks the narration!

my least favorite

I havae to say, this was my least favorite of her books so far. Having such an attachment to all of the previous characters and story lines, there were only 2 story lines here and not much about the other's lives.
I really did NOT like the fact that she made the minister out to be one who does not take God's commands seriousely, but thinks of them as just recommendations. That really turned me off.
I hope it is not a slippery slope and the next book is not as disappointing.

What happened?

Love this series but this was the first book I had a real hard time getting through. After the last book with a very short ending, I looked forward to an update on everyone in Virgin River. No. What I got was an almost unending crap story of how everyone ignored looking into this guy’s background. Really?

Fantastic main characters, moving story underneath about loss, commitment, change and family. A wonderful listen.
