Publisher's Summary

Life has been harsh, but after a horrible childhood, Park was finally content with her life. Her beautiful home sat on the edge of the Pacific Ocean in Los Angeles, she had her dream job, and good friends she trusted. Then she's abducted, car-jacked by a stunningly sexy man who she realizes is dangerously crazy... he thinks he's a vampire. Park plays along until she can escape, until she discovers that there are things out there people like her never knew existed. Life changed instantly in one night...vampires do exist and she herself is something more than she ever knew.

He'd been alive over three hundred years with little complications. But when Bas went to do a simple compel to get a ride on a busy street in L.A. late one night, he found the impossible... a human he couldn't compel. Only, after a taste, he knew... she was something more than human... something different. A complication and a mystery on a night all he wanted was transportation home and away from an enemy he wasn't prepared to fight...yet. He wasn't looking for her, anything like her, and yet he couldn't think about letting her go. Yes, he wanted to know what she was, and he needed to protect her from his enemy, but even more than that...somewhere deep inside an old battle-weary vampire, his human heart told him that the time may have come to feel love again.

Park had always thought she was broken... was never good enough... she'd been taught that often enough as a little girl who lived in the dark. But sometimes things have to fall apart so they can fall together the way they were always meant to be.

I want to be a First!

I like this book. It was really good. Full of action and adventure... I liked how Bas, the vampire, couldn't mind warp Park, the female lead. Park was all like "wait, you can't kidnap me..." while Bas was like "why isn't my mind warp working...." it was funny.

I like how the story played out. It was interesting to see all the pieces come together, and see the battles with the bad guys play out to.

Now the end... I am bit upset about what happen to Bas and Park's father's friend... Seriously... WTF!!!

This is worth a credit or sale. It's a bit pricey...over 10 bucks so I wouldn't recommend for a buy.

Narration was pretty good. Not wonderful but not horrible either.

BAZ AND PARK WERE MEANT TO BE!

If you could sum up Forbidden Days in three words, what would they be?

Interesting story start..

What other book might you compare Forbidden Days to and why?

Its a vamp story and PNR..there are many out there..this one is worth your time too!

Have you listened to any of Pyper Down’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Not that I know of, but she sounds familiar to me...I am beginning to think osmetimes narrators have alter egos too!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

This would make an interesting movie for sure!

Any additional comments?

** I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review **

Park is a nerd girl..a science geek and does not have a very high opinion of herself...Her childhood was terrible and her mother is awful! Park gets away from her mother and childhood by going to college and learning all she can, so she can have a good life..One night she goes on a date and it doesn't go well, as she sits in her car to mourn her bad luck, Baz get's in and tried to compel her to take him to his home in Canada..he learns that Park is not a normal human and neither blood or mind control will work on her...and it all starts from there..Interesting start to a new series for me..It does have a first book feel..but it gets better and better as the chapters progress...and I will be moving on to book 2 right away!

Never Disappointing!

What made the experience of listening to Forbidden Days the most enjoyable?

I’ve been a fan of C.L Quinn’s vampire series, “The Firsts”, since reading her first book, and I’m glad it’s now on audio. Even though I’ve already read the book, listening to it gives it more life as if the characters were real. I’m looking forward to listening to her other audio books!

Interesting new series

This is a great start to an interesting new series. The narrator really brings the characters to life with all the accents that she does. The h in this book lead a tormented childhood and it's kind of a twist on what happens to her. Which I don't want to spoil because a good part of the book is built on that twist. Though the story was interesting I did think that it was a little choppy at sometimes. There were quite a lot of love scenes although they were quick and over in a few sentences. The characters come into their new personalities or there epiphanies rather quickly. But all in all it was a easy listen.

Needs editor. Consistency missing.

Like other reviews, this book would benefit from an editor, or spellcheck! I put it down after the first couple pages several months ago and picked it back up because I was desperate for something new. It didn’t pull me in initially. I pushed through. It had potential. Then it lost it. My biggest issue is the build up then let down multiple times. Spoiler... her mother was impregnated at 17 because she had special gifts (thanks for no further explanation on that, btw) and held against her will until she had to seduce someone to escape. Then her mother was terrified of him catching her and so she turned into a crack whore. That would make her father a perv and sadist kidnapper right?? To add build up, her father was a BAD guy according to a couple different sources. He was supposed to be this big dangerous bad@ss dude but then they meet and after five minutes, they’re “Dear Daughter” and “Dear Father”. Insert eye roll here. Then somehow this girl homeschooled by a crack whore manages to earn a secondary degree and become such an awesome geneticist that she can afford a fancy house on a beach in CA. Then the author has to remind us she’s a cold fish bc that is certainly not the image she conveys to ANYone at any time. Then the love story. Sigh. Not a romantic sigh but a sigh of frustration. She is smart to run away but then goes back with him and they are very shortly thereafter in love. Ok. But WTH was that scene with a butter knife??? That was just confusing and stupid. Then big build up of war. Well, her father goes into house and war over. Remember he’s a bad@ss dude. Did I miss a couple dozen pages? Also Celeste helped keep her mom against her will. She didn’t see anything wrong with that? And bad guy underling is smart enough to kill several vampires and people but gets caught at airport. Couldn’t he detect Bas was their through their connection? Oh and she has experience with her special gifts but stops a plane from crashing. I mean I get it, it’s fantasy but for real? Won’t be continuing series. Ps, not a fan of the narration in audio book.

the narration was terrible

it. was. like. the book. was. being. read. by a. robot. the. cadence. was. stilted. and. slow I'm pretty tolerant and I couldn't get through another 10 hours. I sped it up too. the book also had problems i wasn't sure if could get through. it felt like it was written by a teenager and that's ok until the sex scenes, then it was weird to hear the word cock and get into it. trust me, I like a dirty book, but it needs to be an adult dirty book. this whole thing... not for me.

And so it Begins !!

Would you consider the audio edition of Forbidden Days to be better than the print version?

I have not read the print version of this book. So I can not honestly say.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Forbidden Days?

The explosion of Bas' Mansion and the loss.

Have you listened to any of Pyper Down’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes I have and I just love her narrations. She is very easy to follow and understand.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There were parts that are horribly sad. There was a few Oh NO moments.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this first for me in this series and I will be getting more books/audibles in it.

Waited to see what was coming next.

I laughed, and was totally engaged with this story from the first. Loved the characters and was impressed with the ability of Pyper to keep everyone unique and interesting. I found myself wanting to cheat and look for answers later in the book than where I was at. Glad I tried this author out.

Mildly Entertaining, Yet Rather Dry.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The narrator sounds bored and very flat. Her voice is monotone and It was more akin to listening to a computer generated voice.

Would you recommend Forbidden Days to your friends? Why or why not?

I'd tell my friends that perhaps reading the book, rather than listening would be a better experience. Although somewhat predictable, the story itself wasn't a too bad.

Would you be willing to try another one of Pyper Down’s performances?

Maybe. I have found that an author tends to improve with time and experience.

Did Forbidden Days inspire you to do anything?

No, not really.

Any additional comments?

As for the story itself, the dialogue bordered on cliche, a little cheesy and predictable. The pacing was off and it lacked a good build up as well as the chemistry between the two main characters.

Overall, It was a little entertaining and I am a sucker for supernatural stories.

Not a good buy

Possibly an OK read as a book but the monotonous tone of the narrator made this average book into a horrible audio book. Not something I would recommend at all.
