The motivation of the author to publish this audiobook stems from the desire to contribute to a better way of managing anxiety. Wendy Burnette has seen an estimated 600 acute and chronic mental health patients in the outpatient setting where she is currently employed. Her original patient caseload included 65% who were on long term high dose benzodiazepine drugs (“Benzos”) and still suffering from anxiety. The author shares her experience reducing her patients’ reliance on Benzos by replacing them with better treatments.
In 2014, 47% of her patients were taking Benzos. By 2018 only 7% were still taking Benzos, all of which were in the process of reducing their medication. Her expert diagnosing and prescribing skills and therapeutic relationship with her patients contributed to her healing work. This audiobook is her opportunity to share her own history of overcoming trauma and anxiety with the hope of inspiring the listener. She also includes personal stories of how her faith has grown and how she uses the Bible to guide her own journey. This audiobook is inspired by the noble work that her patients have done.
