Publisher's Summary

Miss Isadora Delafield may be an heiress, but her life is far from carefree. When her mother begins pressuring her to marry an elderly and uncouth duke, she escapes from the high-society world she's always known and finds herself to be an unlikely candidate for a housekeeper position in rural Pennsylvania.

Mr. Ian MacKenzie is known for his savvy business sense and has built his reputation and fortune completely on his own merits. But when his adopted parents are in need of a new housekeeper and Isadora is thrown into his path, he's unexpectedly charmed by her unconventional manner.

Neither Isadora nor Ian expected to find the other so intriguing, but when mysterious incidents on the farm and the truth of Isadora's secret threaten those they love, they'll have to set aside everything they thought they wanted for a chance at happy ever after.

Fantastic!

Though not prone to "flights of fancy" Miss Isadora Delafield certainly went on an unexpected adventure in this wonderful book.

I loved getting to know Izzie, seeing her blossom and find what Aunt Birdie would call the "gifts God gives all his children" was simply delightful. I loved all the humorous mishaps Izzie encountered.
I also loved Ian Mackenzie. A man set to climb the ranks of society, until he sees some long buried truths in his heart.

I love the unique humor, quirky characters, and sweet message the author spreads through the pages and into my heart.

No spoilers from me but hold on, there are some children that will steal your hearts and an unusual assortment of pets that keep things interesting.

Sweet but predictable

This was a sweet, light story that included fun elements. The “dramatic” elements were predictable in coming and being solved. Definitely worth getting on sale, worth a credit if you are looking clean romance that focuses on basic Christian values without being too preachy.

Awesome Story and Great Narration!!

This story you clue to it! So much happens in the storyline that you don’t want to stop listening to the audiobook. The narrator does an outstanding job bringing all the characters to life. This is one story that need to be heard.

frolicking fun

This book is fun from the beginning to the end. It was hard to put down. Jen Turano does a fabulous job of portraying late 19th century New York society and the work world of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The book is full of mishap, misunderstanding, misadventures, and a bit of intrigue. The portrayals of children and animals make this book a delight.I found the performance a little stilted, but the book itself far exceeds the concerns I had with that.

Humorous and uplifting read

I enjoy reading Jen Turano’s books as I know they will be clean, well written, and filled with humor. This book did not disappoint and is among my favorites.

My only regret is that sometimes the narrator’s reading felt less than smooth. At times, I felt like the pacing of the reading was the same as if a robot was reading. At other times, the narration felt natural and enhanced the story.

I returned it...

I listened to a sample before purchasing this book and I had reservations about the narration, but the synopsis intrigued me enough that I purchased it anyway. Sadly, I didn’t even make it halfway through before deciding that I couldn’t stand to listen anymore.

To be fair to the narrator, the text didn’t give her much to work with. All the characters seemed to be idiots who consistently behaved in silly ways, although the text tells us that they “never behave this way” and it’s “not like them.” On top of that, they just can’t seem to figure out why they’re behaving so oddly. I can forgive a far fetched plot if the characters are smart and witty but I can’t stand stupid characters in unbelievable situations. Also, there is almost no historical accuracy here.

This book was a huge disappointment.

Nice Read!

I loved this story. I love a little suspence. It was a quick read and not too goshy.
