“I love food” Nakkiah Lui says, and in the next breath whispers “so give us back our land”. In First Eat, a confrontational, raw and highly personal exploration of food politics, power and body sovereignty, Nakkiah Lui asks how our meals would look different if First Nations people owned the land from which the food came. First Eat is about more than just food, it’s an aural feast for a rich future.

This is crucial listening.

An honest, thought provoking podcast. Always learning through First Nation voices reminding us again and again why you’ve got to nurture country and culture and not rip it up. Thanks Nakkia!

The nuanced story: food and Indigenous identity

I loved the breadth of themes and people Nakkiah interviewed and built the weaving story showing how food and eating right in Australia considers as a Indigenous person but also to anyone who lives and feeds from this country. I hope Luxe will listen and learn well from her mother's work.
