About this listen

How do you rebuild yourself when your whole world changes overnight?

Thrust onto the public stage at fifteen years old after the Taliban's brutal attack on her life, Malala quickly became an international icon known for bravery and resilience. But away from the cameras and crowds, she spent years struggling to find her place in an unfamiliar world. Now, for the first time ever, Malala takes listeners beyond the headlines in Finding My Way - a vulnerable, surprising memoir that buzzes with authenticity, sharp humour and tenderness.

Finding My Way is a story of friendship and first love, of anxiety and self-discovery, of trying to stay true to yourself when everyone wants to tell you who you are. In it, Malala traces her path from high school loner to reckless college student to a young woman at peace with her past. Through candid, often messy moments like nearly failing exams, getting ghosted and meeting the love of her life, Malala reminds us that real role models aren't perfect - they're human.

In this astonishing memoir, Malala reintroduces herself to the world, sharing how she navigated life as someone whose darkest moments threatened to define her - while seeking the freedom to find out who she truly is. Finding My Way is an intimate look at the life of a young woman taking charge of her destiny - and a deeply personal testament to the strength it takes to be unapologetically yourself.

Loved how candid she is about her thoughts, experiences, and values. No one is just one thing: she's an activist, a woman, a girl, a Muslim, Pakistani, a migrant, a daughter, an inspiration, a friend, a lover, and many more... She is coming of age, while all at the same time trying to find who she is as a person holding tight to what she believes in a changing world. I could not get enough. I can also imagine the backlash she'll get from the degree of openness. Another story highlighting the importance of hearing people's stories that colour our world. What an inspiration!

Ever since I heard of a young 15 year old girl named Malala getting shot in the head by the Taliban in Pakistan for daring to want an education I have been a huge fan.

Malala was thrust onto the world stage in the most traumatic way and instantly became this huge public figure. It is easy to buy into the mythical amazing girl who bravely stood up for her right to education and won the Nobel Peace price at only 17 and forget the imperfect human underneath it all.

In Malala's new memoir Finding My Way you get a good glimpse of the human behind the legend. She shares her personal journey of self-discovery, friendship, and first love as a young woman navigating life after surviving the Taliban attack.

Malala is very brave, amazingly determined and a go getter and she is also a total mess and hugely frustrating at times. I cant tell you how many times I felt like screaming at her whilst reading the book 🤣🤣🤣

I really love that Malala did not shrink away from sharing the messiness of life and her flaws.

For a young girl thrust into the public eye in such a traumatic way she has had to navigate mental health struggles which she candidly and vulnerably shares in this memoir.

We get to see Malala navigate growing up in public with a heavy burden unfairly thrust on her shoulders by her loved ones and the world as a whole.

As per the book title its about finding her way among all the noise of people around her and the world at large telling her who she is and how she should live her life.

You get to see her deal with the restrictions of her culture and differences of views with her parents.

This is very relatable for many of us who have had to deal with clashes with our cultural norms and family norms to become our authentic selves.

To say I loved this memoir is an understatement. I can safely say its one of the best books I have ever read 👏👏👏

Getting the glimpse of the imperfect flawed human behind the legend and see her journey of finding herself through it all made me love Malala even more than I did before 💖💖💖

Very happy that this was my first book of the year. A great way to start the year ❤️❤️❤️

It takes a different level of courage to open up and share your story like this. What she shares in a very personal level in this book, would be an inspiration to many. Beautifully written and delivered.

Malala’s second book has got me back into listening to audiobooks again. I developed a neurological issue and thought I didn’t have the concentration for audiobooks anymore but it was an effortless and captivating listen (I finished within a week). I appreciate what I learned about Malala’s lived experience and hope to read more from her perspective in the future.

An engaging read
