Publisher's Summary

Poring over a dusty hatbox of photographs in her grandmother's closet, Emily Prentice is shocked to discover her father was married to his high school sweetheart before meeting her mother.

In the summer of 1968, Jack and Libbie fall in love under the spell of their small town, untouched by the chaos of the late sixties. Though Libbie's well-to-do parents disapprove of Jack's humble family and his aspiration to become a mechanic, she marries Jack a year after they graduate high school. But soon their happiness crumbles as Libbie's mental state unravels and she is drawn to alcohol and drugs. Despite his efforts to help her, Jack loses the woman he loves and is forced to move on with his life.

Now that Emily's mother has passed away, Jack is alone again, and Emily grows obsessed with the beautiful woman who had given her father such joy. Determined to find Libbie, Emily pieces together the couple's fragmented past. But is it too late for happy endings?

Finding Libbie

What a beautiful love story. Young love sweetly narrated but then life in the 70s takes its toll. This must be a realistic experience for many women of that era. A timely reminder why the stigma attched to mental health must be eradicated.

kept me hooked

As I listened, I just couldn't figure out how the story was going to loopback to the synopsis that I had read. I found myself listening even when I had only a few minutes, because I was so eager to hear how the story ended.

Sweet and heartwarming

Everyone has a story of a lost love, but not everyone has a story like this one. The story of Jack and Libbey grabbed my attention from the start and just never let go. It's a story that speaks to me personally. I found my lost love and I have a child with mental illness. This story gives a glimpse of what it's like to love someone who's struggling with their own mind. overall, I say this is a must read

Close to truth in too many lives.

I listin to this book as I did my house work and into the night just to finish it. Drug and alcohol are issues but there are more likely to be the patch for the real reason you need to read the book to find.

Good

Almost made me want to cry, which is unusual for me. Didn't end the way I though it was going to end.

The Notebook kind of love story

What made the experience of listening to Finding Libbie the most enjoyable?

I spend a lot of time in the car and get tired of listening to the radio and even satellite radio so it's nice to have an alternative to "listen" to a book since my downtime is limited at this point in my life.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I would have to Jack for sure. He was the perfect gentleman, hard worker, loyal to the core, and totally in love with Libby. Downright good guy.

Which scene was your favorite?

Towards the end .. I don't want to ruin it for any onlookers debating to read it or not. It brought me to tears (in a good way).

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

True Love is never lost.

Any additional comments?

Really enjoyed the book. Couldn't wait to get in my car so I would have more listening time.
