Publisher's Summary

Welcome to Willoughby Close...a charming cluster of cozy cottages, each with a story to tell and a happy ending to deliver....

Harriet Lang had the perfect life, so she’s left reeling when everything is taken from her in one fell swoop. Suddenly, Harriet learns her beautiful farmhouse in the Cotswolds is double mortgaged, her husband Richard’s been unceremoniously fired - and he’s become a little too close to his young, sexy assistant.

Harriet moves into Willoughby Close with her three children, trying to hold her head up high. With the help of her neighbor and newfound friend Ellie Matthews, Harriet starts to rebuild her life - but dipping a toe in the dating pool feels strange, and meanwhile her children are struggling in different ways. She wonders if starting over is really possible.....

Then Willoughby Close begins to weave its healing magic on both her and her children, and Harriet begins to see a way forward. But when Richard reappears in her life, wanting to make amends, Harriet must make the painful decision about how much of the past can be forgiven - and what kind of future she is fighting for.

Well Researched Narrative

This novel was a lot different from the readings of other stories taking place at Willoughby Close. It was down to earth and on a personal level I found the fighting that lead to a family separation was something I don’t usually choose to read/listen to any longer. During my working life I spent a number of years caring for people affected by trauma but nowadays I tend to go for something on a lighter level. Hey, these are my personal thoughts and in no way should they be taken as a strike against the writer’s interpretation. Every story I have listened to so far differs from the rest and in order to do that well a writer has to have a firm grasp on the subject. Thank goodness for the Happy Ever After!

On a separate note I just wish I had been able to listen to the readings in chronological order but I haven’t been able to do that when choosing titles on a mobile. Maybe I should go back to checking out on a computer but that’s not always possible.

If you follow this author’s stories then you’ll already know that the next one will be entirely different so keep on listening.

One thing that spoiled the book for me.

Scratchy voice of presenter was annoying. I had to use a low volume to be able to tolerate her voice.

So boring

A very drawn out tedious story. Endless monologues with repetition. Same topic over and over. I fast forwarded to the end and was relieved to mark it as finished

Simply Awful

Whenever the husband used the phrase "I promise . ." I wanted to scream: Get away from this loser. Very hard to feel any sympathy or empathy for any of the characters.
