Publisher's Summary

What’s a guy gotta do to appease an evil god?

It’s been a year since Katherine tried to take over the world, and Finch Merlin is itching to do something other than odd jobs for Erebus, God of Darkness. Erebus promises he’ll free Finch of his servitude after he completes one final task - finding the Fountain of Youth.

Finch has no idea why Erebus wants eternal youth, since the guy is already an immortal being. All the secrecy makes Finch uneasy, but he has no choice but to obey.

He knows he’ll get by with a little help from his friends, namely his old pal Garrett, who’s still dealing with the whole “being resurrected” thing. There’s also Ryann, Harley’s foster sister, now a regular at the San Diego Coven. Whenever she’s around, Finch feels butterflies in his stomach. Or maybe it’s just a bad case of indigestion.

Together, they’ll infiltrate the flashy world of the magical elite in search of a rare artifact, one that will help them capture a poltergeist - the angry ghost of famed adventurer Ponce de León.

Finch’s adventures have only just begun, with plenty of old and new friends...and foes.

It's Finch's story

If you love Harley then this book will be hard to adapt to. As it is about her brother Finch. Something to think about before you buy.

..and the story continues...

we really enjoyed this continuation of the Harley Merlin series. It was great to see some of the minor characters take more active roles and the addition of some new characters. We are thoroughly enjoying this series and look forward to the next books!

Decent

I started listening it this series (the Harley Merlin series) as a background audio book for doing things around the house. I did not realize at the time just how many books there are! I was hoping this would be a good final conclusion however it seems as though I’ve found myself down another book rabbit hole. To deep to turn back but fully looking for a conclusion. The books are entertaining enough. I did however find this book to be slightly irritating our once “powerful” characters getting out smarted by a teenager at every turn, it made their actions in previous books feel less epic? I’m not sure how else to put it. If you want a long series to get lost in, to use for disassociation this is the right series. If your hoping for a book series that has some quick satisfying conclusions and sharp story telling with new ideas, this might not be it.

Still?!?!

The characters are ok but I am just weary with the storyline. I cannot go on to Book 11 because it just feels all the same...they never win, never get the upper hand and things always go wrong. I have listened to the Harry Potter series at least 8 times, and I know I will listen to them again. I have absolutely no interest in listening to the Harley/Finch Merlin series and now I’m kicking myself for wasting so many credits on these books. I’m a sucker for thinking the plots would get better. Nope. Sigh.

Predictable... not bad, just predictable.

The performance and enthusiasm the narrator has given to this series is exceptional. The story line has gotten extremely predictable. I'm going to try book 11 but... my hopes aren't high. I miss Harley's presence but I am enjoying the new characters and points of view. The predictably is a issue but the story tantalizes you just enough to make you see if the next book is worth it.

Engaging New Series

Forrest develops interesting characters that you begin rooting for as the plot thickens in her novels.

Good story, shame about the narrator.

The story was good but the narrator, I felt, was not right for this story and really spoilt it for me. I considered continuing the series but saw the same narrator reading them so have decided not to bother. Shame really, I really enjoyed the Harley Merlin Series till this one.

Finch's character is too good for the content

Finch was my favourite in the Harley Merlin series and I was excited for these books to come out. But I feel like the content didn't do him justice. The Harley Merlin series started off a bit the same and got better as they went on, so I hope this is the same. Great narration as always and not disappointed I listened.
